What movie has the best soundtrack and who is the best composer? For me, it would be either Hans Zimmer or Ennio Morricone Ennio Morricone: And don't forget Metallica's version of The Ecstasy of Gold: Hans Zimmer:
Vangelis, Angelo Badalamenti, etc. They're all good.
I vote Badalamenti. His scores for Lynch pictures are perfect.
Hans Zimmer is amazing. I personally like Clint Mansell, too.
Clinton Shorter, Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and James Newton Howard.
morricone
I like the Firefly soundtrack. Really added to the atmosphere.
Clint Mansell I also love Howard Shore
Steve Jablonsky is an unappreciated talent.
Hans Zimmer followed by John Williams and then James Horner. I like full orchestra scores.
My favorites are Vangelis(Blade Runner is my favorite of his), John Williams(pretty much everything from Star Wars to A.I.), Howard Shore(The Fly), Jerry Goldsmith(The Omen), Christopher Young(Hellraiser films mostly and The Fly 2) and Philip Glass(his score for Candyman is amazing), and Ennio Morricone is also a favorite but my tastes only appeal to his work on The Thing, which is of course one film for which he is lesser known.
Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica)
Ennio Morricone and Vangelis are my favourite ones. [editline]02:50AM[/editline] Vangelis did amazing work on Blade Runner soundtrack.
Basil Poledouris. Love his Star Ship Toopers score.
Howard Shore is great IMO.
John Williams

Hans Zimmer from TDK. The music sends shivers down my spine.
The guy who did the Battle Star Galatica sound track was pretty damn good. I don't know his name but the music fit the series so well.
I really love some of Howard Shore's work.
Sakamoto Ryuichi / Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence Piano: Electronic version, as used in the film (I think): One of my favorites. Never finished learning how to play it :/
Harry Gregson Williams
Philip Glass, Danny Elfman (the earlier workings), Clint Mansell, James Newton Howard...

As less obvious choices than Hans Zimmer and John Williams: Harry Gregson-Williams is a slightly lesser known composer who has done some good work. John Powell did good work on the Bourne films. Oh yeah and Howard Shore is a God. His music in The Lord of the Rings was incredible.
Dreamwork's spirit has some awesome music that Bryan Adams sings. The movie was MUCH better than I thought it was going to be also. Ignore the crappy video
