Los Alamos County has granted a special request from the film's director and producer to name the town in the movie "Los Alamos, New Mexico." Producer Simon Oakes has made it clear that the plot of Let Me In will closely resemble that of the original film, except that it will be made "very accessible to a wider audience"; "[It has] the same beats, maybe the scares are a little bit more scary. We've been able to ramp that up quite a lot, obviously for budgetary reasons. But I guess we'll have to see how it turns out.
Maybe they're just doing it to attract English Audiences.
This makes me sad :( remaking perfectly good foreign films just because some lazy fucks can't read subtitles and some greedy bastards want to make more money.

I didn't know what the original was so I looked up the films page on IMDB and I'm just going to highlight why this got an American remake. Spoilers ahead?
drink other people's blood to live .... How much can love forgive?
Though it does have Chloë Moretz, so I'd give it a shot.
Original movie was boring and felt very arthousey. This doesn't seem very different.
Aww fuck no. Has any american remake of a non american film, epecially in the horror (although this does not entirely fit) genre ever been as good as the original, if any good at all? I loved the original. I shall wait and watch.
The original is one of the best Swedish movies ever. It is also one of my favourite novels of all time. I doubt this is going to be horribly bad but I have to ask: Why? Why is a remake needed? Remakes should be made to improve upon the original.
The original was disturbing in the way it portrayed violence, I'm worried this one will simplify it too much. They better not take out [sp]the beheading scene[/sp]
Everyone should watch Let The Right One In. It's an amazing movie, and it's actually better than the book.
Kodi Smit-McPhee was very good in The Road.

I have the original movie. I'll probably watch it tonight. [editline]03:10PM[/editline]
I doubt this is going to be horribly bad but I have to ask: Why? The story of a boy falling for a girl vampire plus a trailer that makes the movie look like an action-horror (although I dunno if it is or isn't) means that the movie will grab a lot of people who are too lazy to read subtitles.
Remakes are the scum of the movie industry.
The violence in "Let the right one in" felt very disturbing somehow.
Learn to fucking subtitles, jesus.
Remakes are the scum of the movie industry.
Scarface was a remake.
It's gonna be bad :frown: [editline]03:47PM[/editline]
Scarface was a remake.
It wasn't even that good.
It wasn't even that good.
Yes it was.
I loved let the right one in! Why remake it?
John Carpenter's the Thing too. you ruined my automerge.
It wasn't even that good.
you're just saying that
If it isn't broken don't fix it. And dumbing it down is just fucking retarded.
Blah blah Americans are too dumb to watch foreign movies so let's remake it whatever. Not sure which is worse between a remake and a dub.
Did anyone else see the Morse Code at the end? It's at 1:13. I just translated it, it says HELP ME.
Blah blah Americans are too dumb to watch foreign movies so let's remake it whatever. Not sure which is worse between a remake and a dub.
Dub. [editline]05:47PM[/editline]
Remakes are the scum of the movie industry.
Halloween.
MY EXPERT OPINION: 1. Matt Reeves is fucking awesome, so I think he has the right to make any movie he wants. 2. Everyone in this thread is using "American" as a source of hate for no apparent reason. Sorry that the U.S. is a leader in the entertainment industry and home of the iconic Hollywood, but that's not a valid reason to get mad, faggots. 3. I saw the original version of this film and to be honest it wasn't the greatest horror piece ever. I didn't particularly like the film style and it had this grainy late '70s picture quality, in addition to (at times) some less-than-spectacular acting. I'm fairly positive Sweden has produced far better.
Saw the original a while back. A cute movie about prepubescent romance with plenty of gore.
If it isn't broken don't fix it. And dumbing it down is just fucking retarded.

"[It has] the same beats, maybe the scares are [B]a little bit more scary. And "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" is easily one of the least-accurate adages in the history of adages.
Translated: We have enough money to use incredibly fake looking CGI and run it through a shitty 3D filter now. So it'll actually end up looking worse and be less scary.

Whatever you say, remakes are dum.
