Jon Bon Jovi accuses Steve Jobs of putting a shot through the heart of music

Steve Jobs, according to musical legend Jon Bon Jovi, is "personally responsible for killing the music business." This strident (and economically false) accusation comes from an interview he conducted with Britain's Sunday Times, where he candidly sets out his dismay at this century's move away from music distribution on physical media and toward ubiquitous download portals. Bon Jovi's nostalgia shines through in his detailed account of the "magical" experience of picking up records and enjoying their sweet touch and soothing analog tones -- though we're not sure how he missed out on the fact that CDs, not downloads, were the first to stab a dagger of digital convenience through the hole in his record collection. Still, Bon Jovi thinks Apple's iTunes success is to blame for the loss of our collective innocence and bright-eyed enthusiasm for music. What do you think?

My mom went to high school with Bon Jovi

She said he was a self absorbed asshole
Stick to making music there Champ, the 80s still have a pretty strong following.

have a nice day
Steve Jobs - Wanted: Dead or Alive.
I agree with him in the idea that the music industry definitely lost something when we moved away from vinyl. Fuck I wish vinyl was still popular sometimes.
sorry but the ability for me to download an east african dance album, a brooklyn hip-hop album, and an icelandic rock album all within seconds and without limitation is the single greatest thing to happen in music
people who disagree with that sentiment should ask themselves a question about what is more important: the idea of you listening to music, or the music itself?
personally i prefer the music

and if you honestly believe that digital music has removed enthusiasm for music then you must be fucking blind as fuck

:v:
Also, I think enthusiasm has infact grown with the digital age of music. Alot more people are publishing their stuff. Problem is, alot of it is shit, and you have to digg through huge piles of crap before you find something worth listening to.
im gonna see bon jovi next month

absolutely not a problem for me in the slightest
if anything there's too much amazing music and i can't keep up
I think he needs to retire, he only sings 2 songs live at every single event on Earth it seems, and it's so redundant.
Whats with the big fucking bandwagons?
One thread:"I hate Steve Jobs.. I wish he'd die already!"
.. Ten threads later
"Quit bashing on Steve Jobs"

more like "new product announced, no major changes, but still revolutionary"
"I hate Steve Jobs.. I wish he'd die already!"
and then
"I think Steve Jobs is the reason why the Peruvian economy has taken a downward turn in recent years"
"Quit bashing on Steve Jobs"
basically, FP tends to bandwagon on Steve jobs if he's actually related to what's going on, and not pinpointed falsely as a target for something like taking a large cut of record sales, when really CDs did that WAY before iTunes existed.
We should blame MTV and co. more than Jobs.
iTunes does influence piracy in a way, I mean shit, 2.49 for a song will eventually cause someone to not buy music any longer, from big producers or iTunes.
So in a way, I guess he's right
Who in the right mind even bought Bon Jovi's music.
It's shit.
Ludicrousy at its best.
Pffft... he's a dying star. A white dwarf headed for a black hole. That's physics. It's inevitable.
Buy his music on iTunes to show support.....
Oh wait.
Well I guess he wanted to just get that out there, it's now or never, steve jobs ain't gona live forever.
People are still buying Bon Jovi music off of iTunes and still making them a profit. So technically, he's doing them some good.
And him calling Jobs a dick for "killing the music industry" is just stupid.
Steve Jobs isn't responsible for killing the music business, he's only responsible for making shopping for music really dull and boring.
I only buy physical media, myself. I agree with Bon Jovi, that there's just something awesome about going up to the music shop and getting a disc. Would be more awesome to get vinyl but whatever.
I like CDs much more than any digital download
Why does the term the pot calling the kettle black come to mind... (this is probably because I hate Bon Jovi and I'm not overly fond of apple either.)
Spotify is the best thing to happen to the Music Industry.
He wants to make... a new CD.
