Yesterday the torrent world lit up with news that Demonoid had somehow been resurrected under the new domain D2.vu. However, the site was quickly taken offline by its host in the U.S. who claimed that it was serving up malware. With the site now back online with a new host, TorrentFreak caught up with its admins who tell us they have no malicious intent and simply want to bring a community back to together. While there is still uncertainty, one thing is absolutely clear – they do have the old Demonoid database.
Source This makes me happy. We can finally have all of our Linux distros again! Also, I tried to log in with my old account, it works.
Everybody moved on to different sites. I see now real reason to get all giddy about it.
Demonoid has always had one of the best communities.
Everybody moved on to different sites. I see now real reason to get all giddy about it.
Just because you moved on doesn't mean everyone else has. There's a shitload of people who are going to back there and start up business as usual. There's still a massive resource of things there, legal and not legal and I realised that, like Megaupload, a lot of the things I wanted were on there on the same damn day it went down. Besides, this is a victory and testament to the resilience of Demonoid and sites like it. The US can fuck right the hell off.
Demonoid has always had one of the best communities.
Yeah that's mostly the reason why I've always held it so close to me as one of my favorite places for torrenting.
I told yall niggas it was coming back
Oh good, I never did find a worthy replacement for them, glad they're returning.
Oh good, I never did find a worthy replacement for them, glad they're returning.
It's not the original staff sadly but it is the original Demonoid DBs and such.
Good thing my account still works.
Personally I liked demonoid because it was harder to get malicious files from.
*oh wait, that's old news* Glad Demonoid is back though, but it's going to be hard to switch back considering I rarely used it.
Thank god. The other private trackers were way too difficult to keep up with and get into (what.cd, etc.). I could actually seed Demonoid's torrents. :v:
Thank god. The other private trackers were way too difficult to keep up with and get into (what.cd, etc.).
Everybody moved on to different sites. I see now real reason to get all giddy about it.
demonoid has certain files that i have never been able to find on other sites. i can't remember what, exactly, but i'm sure i will remember eventually.
I got an email from them a few days ago, but their site was down. I just tried it with my old account and everything is as it was when they went offline. Yay 8.27 ratio is still there.
yeah with what.cd you need to download a shitload of freeleech ones and hope to god you actually make an impact on your uploaded total; without freeleech it makes starting up on these trackers utterly uneconomical best thing about demonoid was although it tracked ratios no one gave a shit
Asian DVD Club has strict rules on ratios, but they provide several ways to help you recover from crap ratios. Demonoid at one time was super anal about ratios, but they laxed up a bit in their later years.
Whoooo! The return of the king.
Fuck yes. I've grown so fucking sick of using The Pirate Bay. Demonoid was (is) superior in every way, shape and form.
Fuck yes. I've grown so fucking sick of using The Pirate Bay. Demonoid was (is) superior in every way, shape and form.
Not to try and sound like I've been under a rock for TOO long, but you can still get on TPB?
I used TPB earlier today to download some hardcore Linux Distros. Kinda blows with all the stupid ads and shit, and since anybody can upload whatever, there's a lot of awful quality stuff. I've never really used anything else, so maybe I should try out Demonoid.
THE KING IS BACK and the people rejoiced but seriously, I'm hyped. I love that I can even login to my old account.
Not to try and sound like I've been under a rock for TOO long, but you can still get on TPB?
Pirate Bay could probably survive under a rock
honestly I'm a bit suspicious about it, gotta see how it goes
honestly I'm a bit suspicious about it, gotta see how it goes
Yeah, it seems like a trap.
Through an amazing sequence of unlikely events, the data on those Ukrainian servers has made its way into the safe hands of members of our own community and has now been re-launched as d2.vu.
yeah sure...
So the name change to D2 is permanent to avoid the feds immediately going after them? That new logo is kinda ugly.
So the name change to D2 is permanent to avoid the feds immediately going after them? That new logo is kinda ugly.
Agreed. Definitely preffered this one.
Bet it still has absolutely no open registrations, right?

While the email claimed that D2.vu was registered in Hong Kong, TorrentFreak discovered that it was actually hosted by a company called RamNode based in the U.S. RamNode detected malware at the domain and immediately suspended it. They also recommended that anyone who logged in to D2.vu immediately change their usernames and passwords if they use the same login for other sites.
I heard about the site being shady before this actually which is why I haven't yet logged in with my old account ;)
Now all I need is internet that can download above 300kb/s...
demonoid had the best collection of comics.
