I’m told that Legendary Pictures is moving toward a deal to land the rights to make a live-action film based on the decades-old pocket monster game from Japan that has gotten a giant second wind since the release of the new app. Details are scant at this point, and no deal has been closed, but I am persuaded that it’s headed that way. Attempts to get comment from Legendary were unavailing, and calls to Pokemon USA were not returned.
oh god. i mean I guess it shouldn't be that surprising given how popular Pokemon still is and how big a hit GO was, not to mention how many animated movies it's already had, but still.
That didn't take long
Live action pokemon would just look awful. I doubt you can bring pokemon style to real life while not making them look absolutely stupid.
Please, Nintendo. Don't let them do this. The animated movies are just fine as they are. Don't make a fucking live-action film.
I guess it depends on how they play it out. If it's anything like Pokemon Origins I'd find it enjoyable infact just make Pokemon Origins 2: Silver and Gold
Live action Pokemon would not fucking work You can not take such a cartoony style and try to make it live action.
On the other hand if they do accept this and it ends up bad they'll crawl back into their NO MOVIES hole from Super Mario Bros.
It's like Dragon Ball: Evolution. There's no fucking WAY this will ever translate properly to live-action.

I'm mostly concerned with how the trainers would look. If they go with a child actor for the main character there's not many good ones so it'd probably be better to get someone older, but then when they wear the clothes how do they stop them from looking like this [t]http://covers.booktopia.com.au/big/9318500042095/a-fairly-odd-movie.jpg[/t]
Live action pokemon would just look awful. I doubt you can bring pokemon style to real life while not making them look absolutely stupid.
I feel they would be better off making it Pixar or How To Train Your Dragon styled CG than live action.
i find it crazy how massive in such a short time pokemon go has gotten.
i find it crazy how massive in such a short time pokemon go has gotten.
Why? Pokemon as a franchise has sold more than 200 million copies. Figure how many people love Pokemon but don't want to buy a dedicated game system.
I feel they would be better off making it Pixar or How To Train Your Dragon styled CG than live action.
I would prefer 2D but 3D could work. Fuck no on live action. Companies need to stop pulling that shit. With pokemon, its going to look hokey as all else.
Grimdarkemon
That's Digimon in general. Please for gods sake, do NOT make a live action movie.
Featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Ash Ketchum and Danny DeVito as Pikachu
Why? Pokemon as a franchise has sold more than 200 million copies. Figure how many people love Pokemon but don't want to buy a dedicated game system.
it isn't the people who already love pokemon that surprise me, its all the people who never seemd to have an interest in it before. hell, the fuckin USMC official twitter has posted pokemon go shit
I think it would be awesome! Just look at this masterpiece!
i would love live action if they play it straight and self-aware of how silly this entire thing is
That didn't take long
shouldn't come as a surprise because at one point there were literally 3 or 4 sensationalist headlines about pokemon go that made it into the popular list at once
I hope they don't try to use the "cartoons being transported into the real world" excuse to implement the cartoony style in a live action movie
I hope they don't try to use the "cartoons being transported into the real world" excuse to implement the cartoony style in a live action movie
Unless they don't address it at all like Space Jam or Who Framed Roger Rabbit
it isn't the people who already love pokemon that surprise me, its all the people who never seemd to have an interest in it before. hell, the fuckin USMC official twitter has posted pokemon go shit
It went viral, same way as the dress/dat boi/etc did, though afaik this is only the second time it's happened with a videogame. These trends just come out of nowhere, like with Fallout Shelter. It was insanely popular for a few weeks, but less than 10% of the people who downloaded the app actually bought Fallout 4 (a few hundred million vs. 12-20 million?)... probably because it was free. I'm guessing it's a similar situation here.
make them like kaiju
I think nintendo is still iffy on making any of it's properties into real life films....since super mario brothers.
welp when the U.S. MARINES post stuff about it, you can tell it's most certainly popular :v:
It's kind of amazing that Pokemon managed to become a fad twice
Please, Nintendo. Don't let them do this. The animated movies are just fine as they are. Don't make a fucking live-action film.
while there is evidence to the contrary, nintendo does really care about the quality of the movies that are licensed with their properties. There has been apparently lots of scripts written for a zelda movie but nintendo refuses to license them
welp when the U.S. MARINES post stuff about it, you can tell it's most certainly popular :v:
its not that huge of a deal. they have pr guys just like any other organization.
Why? Pokemon as a franchise has sold more than 200 million copies. Figure how many people love Pokemon but don't want to buy a dedicated game system.
also its not the usual rehashed formula like the games have become
