[release]PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence police said a 14-year-old boy driving a stolen van crashed into a car on Route 10 on Saturday, killing a 9-year-old girl.
Authorities said the 14-year-old stole the van from the Nickerson House Community Center on Delaine Street before hitting a driver in the Olneyville section of the city at about 3 p.m. The teen then took off and fled onto Route 10, said police.
Officials said police followed the teen, staying a few cars behind. That’s when police said the teen hit another car, then drove across the median and hit a Nissan.
“At this point, it doesn’t appear that it was a pursuit,” said Rhode Island State Police Capt. Darren Delany. “At this point, it appears (police) were trying to initiate a traffic stop.”
Alexis Silva, 9, who was inside the Nissan, was killed on impact. Police said Silva’s mother, Stephanie Flynn, 29, of Cranston, who was driving the car, Silva's infant sister and a 13-year-old friend were seriously injured.
“All you heard was the screeching," described one witness. "It was something like you would see in a movie.”
Family said the infant suffered a broken leg and a bruised shoulder. Flynn suffered a large cut across her head.
“She flew out the car window,” said cousin Amber Herbert.
The 14-year-old driver of the stolen van was also injured. He was treated and released to Rhode Island state police custody. He’ll be arraigned in Family Court on Monday.

Family Court means the 14-year-old will probably go to juvie for a few months...
He has to live with the guilt for the rest of his life :|

Good.
He has to live with the guilt for the rest of his life :|
As he should.
Maybe, but it was a single mistake that will haunt his life...forever

Jesus Christ, that is just terrible.
People like him piss me off, no thought for the safety of others, probably stole the van to impress his friends or some dumb shit.

Technically the boy is the one who will suffer the most for this
dumbs? It's true.
What a fucking twat.
Technically the boy is the one who will suffer the most for this
I'd rather suffer with killing someone than be dead myself.
Technically the boy is the one who will suffer the most for this
Or the girls parents wtf.
Or the girls parents wtf.
I dunno about that
Stupid shit, probably trying to impress his friends with a car.
Technically the boy is the one who will suffer the most for this
And what about the girls family? Fuck the boy.
I'd rather suffer with killing someone than be dead myself.
it's funny because a percentage of people who unintentionally kill people end up commuting suicide.
basically, you don't know if what you just said was true or not.

It's probably false
Holy shit.
That poor fucking girl.
And I wouldn't be surprised if that boy kills himself in the next few years.
Teenagers tend to have bouts with depression as is, going through that with knowing you ended a young girls life for stupid stunt and possibly being in prison seems like a pretty deadly cocktail.

When I look back at the truly bad things I did as a child, I just tell myself "Meh I was a kid".

I doubt that most people who unintentionally kill someone are the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with.

Mistakes breh, they happen
I doubt that most people who unintentionally kill someone are the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with.
People who make mistakes are dumb?
shit my bad, forgot you were some kind of deity.
Mistakes breh, they happen
Like I said, most people. There's stupid mistakes that occur sometimes where really the person who caused the death was at a very minor fault and the death was caused by extreme circumstances.
But cases like this are caused by outright stupidity.

Finally someone with sense in this thread.

When I look back at that time I killed that little girl, I just think "Meh, I was a kid."
You're an idiot sir.
I bet she wasn't wearing her seatbelt.

Better than breaking down into tears and going into the corner of your room to weep

Not really, because that will go away. And you can take comfort in knowing you're not another self-centered egotistical bastard.

most cases (from my very personal experience), are unintentional deaths caused by normal people. Not idiots, not morons, but totally normal, educated people who simply made a mistake that anyone on this planet could make.

its funny because a percentage of people who are librarians end up committing suicide
its funny because a percentage of people who are diabetic end up committing suicide
ifs funny because a percentage of people who have been arrested end up committing suicide
It can be for any reason, just because something happened to someone and they commit suicide later doesn't mean the two are related in any way.
