Its come to my attention that airsoft looks like a cool ass sport, and it sounds kick ass when your in a scrim. My question is, how much are going to need to spend on a primary and secondary total and where can you find matches? Also, what sites do you recommend?
A lot of money.
For starters, consider purchasing the basics: A rifle (AEG is preferable), charger, bbs, battery, and maybe a vest. Spare magazines are a good idea but not completely necessary for the beginner. A secondary, such as a pistol, isn't really necessary unless you want to play zombie / pistol games. As for matches, we need to know a rough idea of where you live so you can figure out where to play. NEVER play in a public place, always play in a privately owned piece of land where the owner is aware that you are playing airsoft.
In short, plan on spending 200 bucks AT LEAST for a decent loadout (rifle and all.)
I'm not buying a full set, I just need a primary and secondary. A decent one is like, 380, right?
I live in Washington, Tri-City's [Kennewick, Pasco, Richland]

If you're only looking for a gun then a skirmishable one starts at around 100 bucks. Plan on spending more though; as a general rule I start at 150 dollars for a reliable gun.
Also consider what type of rifle you want - M4/M16, AK, P90, etc.
I'm looking at a M4.

God, reading over that sticky again it makes DarkSamus look really elitist.
Don't be hating on DarkSamus man, he's speaking the truth, except the BlueSaint part doesn't apply anymore sadly :frown:.
OP, if you're planning to play Airsoft just because it's a "cool ass sport", you might not get very far. Not much is cool about teenagers dressing up shooting plastic BBs at each other. I don't think any of us play because it is cool. We play because it is fun. And unless you're training in the military, any other reason to play would be a waste of money.
But enough of that, I might as well be helpful. First of all, remember to wear PROPER eye protection, not just those plastic glasses. You might see that bit of advice a few times later. Find out what the fields close to you are like before you buy. You don't want to go into really tight CQB with a bolt-action sniper rifle. Next, I suggest you rent weapons for your first two or three games and wear eye protection. This way, if you don't like it, you haven't wasted your money. When and if you decide you want to get into this, http://airsoftgi.com/ is the place to buy. Get a good AEG to begin with, I've been playing sporadically for about a year and my JG SIG 552 has been a great weapon, I suggest it along with that eye protection. Get a spare magazine or two, a vest, eye protection and BBs. You won't need a secondary for now.
And for God's sake don't dick around with those guns. Learn some gun safety and discipline. And ALWAYS wear proper eye protection.
This should at least be around 250+

You won't have to look very far, everyone makes a half decent M4.

Secondaries are really not that useful. Yes, they're fun, yes, they may 'complete' a loadout, but they're not essential in any way.
You would be better off spending that money on things like:
Good quality BBs
Smart charger
Extra magazines
Extra battery
Good eyewear
etc.
When you have everything you need, and are happy with everything's quality, but still want more, that's when you buy a sidearm.
Although, handguns for CQB is a lot funner usually than using an AEG.

I'm more effective I find with my Glock 18c then with my AK. But my CQB place is alot more CQB-ish then where guys like Ender play, very close quarters and all that.

Not to mention being on facepunch for 5 years does that to people.

I hope you read the rest of that too.
Like mot people are saying, prepare to spend a lot of money. I'm quite new to Airsoft (I used to use those cheap springers/mini electrics guns when I was younger), but I've just recently started putting the coin towards this awesome hobby. I suggest going to www.Airsoftgi.com for your weapons upgrades, and gear. However; if you want a really authentic looking loadout get your BDU's and stuff like that from a surplus store.
So far I've spent $335 on both a primary weapon and a secondary; and I'm now about to purchase gear for my loadout which is another 170-80 dollars.
