Hello Facepunch community, I am in a bit of a bind, I am in a bind. I have been working on a project for my political science class for about three months. It is a thirteen page project and worth a plurality of my grade this semester. Here is the problem: I worked on it a lot from home and from other locations so I used a flash drive. I always saved to the flash drive and haven't had a problem with it until today. The project is due in two days, so I was going to put the finishing touches on it and now the docx us corrupt. I have tried every work around that google or I can think of. I DL'd three different recovery programs, as well as tried to resave it as ten different file types. Nothing has worked. My best option is to just ask for an extension and do it all again, but I would rather hang myself than do that. So here is my proposition: I will upload the file to a file hosting site and anyone can try to recover it. The first person to recover my file so that the text is workable will receive 25$ delivered from me to the paypal account of their choice. Here is the link to the file. It is hosted through filedropper. All you have to do is click download now and then type a captcha. http://www.filedropper.com/polisciprojectbarbaraboxer Oh, and so I am not wasting 25$ over and over again, I will need the file first to verify it works. Thank you facepunch, please help me. EDIT: If someone can get it working by the end of today then I will pay 30$ EDIT2: If someone does manage to get it works, just email me at chris_nwo2sweet@yahoo.com. I am going to spend the rest of today completely smashed. Cheers.
I downloaded it and it is just a bunch of square 0's.
It's completly corrupted. The file size is too small and contents way to small for thirteen pages nevertheless just one so, it really can't be recovered. I feel really sorry for you, buddy. Edit: Are you sure you did not copy it over somewhere at all?
That was the feeling I got from trying to recover it twenty or thirty times. Thanks for the help guys. For me it opens as about 4 pages of pound signs and a couple pages of other things.
Good luck on doing it all over again!
Did you make any backups?
If you didn't make any at all at least make some this time!
Did you make any backups?
I thought I did. I saved a version on my computer as soon as I got home, but it is also corrupt. My fault for not saving it to the original computer as well.
How big is the backupped one? (size as in kb, mb, gb...)
... Can I still have that $30. Nah kidding. I tried, but failed. How did it get corrupt in the first place?
nvm did not read OP correctly.
How big is the backupped one? (size as in kb, mb, gb...)
They are all around 19kb. One is slightly smaller at 18kb. I have three copies of the file. It may have been corrupted because I saved exclusively to the flash drive, rather than to my computer and moving it to the flash drive.
Yeah, all completly corrupted.

Get EXACTLY 3.941 dollars and put it in a GRAY envelope together with the flash drive, unsealed. Wear a black jacket, red shirt and black jeans. Put envelope in LEFT pocket, then hit the street. Find a BLUE door, which has the inscription T.I.R.S in it in an alleyway (each location in the world has one, don't ask me how). Knock 4 times fast, 1 slow, 3 fast and 2 slow. Wait 5 seconds then take the envelope and slide it under the RIGHT side of the door (IMPORTANT). Wait exactly 1 day and 14.25 (one quarter) hours. return to the site. Don't be alarmed if the door is replaced with a wall. Find either the BLUE or the GREY dumpster. Look under it, there should be a small button, push it. A lid will open on the middle side of the dumpster, in it will be a new flash drive, a blank card and 2 roses of different colours. Insert flash drive in PC but DO NOT OPEN IT YET. Open a new WORD or NOTEPAD document. Type in the 2 colours of the roses and save it to the flash drive. Wait 15 seconds, the flash drive should beep blue and red interchangeably 3 times. Now you may open your document and find it completely restored!
