Well facepunch, it's Christmastime. It's supposed to be a time of happiness and greediness, but everyone still has that feeling that someone else in the world is scared or sick.
I was just in the shower, where most of my intense thinking is done, and I had an idea. I'm currently in the process of getting my Pilot's License and thought that maybe I should start a charity organization called Fly for Life. The main idea of the organization is to evacuate sick African citizens and take them on board "flying ambulances" to European nations where they can receive treatment for their ailments, instead of receiving the shitty care they get in the poor nations of Africa.
My question is: would you support or work for an organization like this?
But then you would have to pay the super advanced high-tech treatment they receive.
Moving a person from one country to another you would need all kind of paperwork

let me remind you that its a charity organization in which annoying rich assholes would donate money to help us pay for fuel, pilots and healthcare.
If I can travel for free and have a decent pay I would do it.
You got any idea how much a plane costs? Trust me you won't get that many donations that will let you afford planes and medical care. Plus on top of that you need pilots, a PPL won't cut it since either you have to fly through the night in a prop so you need night licence and a ton of fuel or become twin rated and most likely IFR rated to. Nice idea but i'm sure if it could be done it would have been done before if not already being done.

I doubt you could raise enough money to pay for travel expenses and health care

which hopefully can be simplified by the emigration branch of the organization

my uncle owns one so yes i do
Very good idea OP. Like others said though, it would be fuck all expensive.
If you go through with this, get malaria vaccinations. It's not fun.
The idea of it is pretty good, but you should work locally first instead of thinking abroad there are people suffering around you in your own hometown

Yeah but you'll need something slightly bigger than a Cessna.

I know but its annoying how all i can do is make fucking sandwiches for homeless people locally, while an orphan in africa probably wont wake up because he or she is homeless, sick, and hungry.

There's more you can do locally than make sandwiches, you can do more for the people around you than you could ever do in Africa

Would be nice but still cost a fortune. Plus am sure there is laws stopping people from coming into a country just for medical care I know in the UK once you are admitted to hospital even for emergency treatment you have to pay if your not a UK resident.

I'm thinking about Germany or Italy, they might have some relatively lax immigration laws.

Don't know if the healthcare is free though
I still think that http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/ is the best option to help these people.
Apply for that Pepsi Refresh project. If you can create a good enough page and have a promising charity, I'm sure a load of FP users and other folks will get behind it.

i might do that but the only problem is (im only 14) so getting support will be hard.
I thought this was a FLYFF thread and was preparing to rate dumb, but this would actually be nice if you were successful with it.
