I couldn't give less of a shit about the characters' sexuality. The real problem is how badly some of them (especially merril) are written. The majority aren't multifaceted, flawed, or even interesting and it pisses me the fuck off.
Good grief.
ahha i could just imagine in game there would be a no homo option and suddenly none of the characters would ever talk to you ever again

I could see that happening, Bioware has always been antagonizing the "Straight Male" persona ever since they released ME (Blue alien hawtness)

:ms:
In Dragon Age 1, I always thought it was cool each character had their own sexuality as it made them more believable. I've always found romance stupid in games however as it just creeps me out, but I felt attributing sexualities to characters was a step in the right direction since none of it was forced onto you and it made them seem more "human." The writing for characters was also decent in it.
I've never played Dragon Age 2, and I'm probably not going to until the end of this year. Making EVERYONE bisexual is kind of stupid to me, but regardless, I like his attitude regarding how not everyone is straight or male, and as long as none of these interactions are being shoved down the players throat I think it's an interesting implementation.

That sucks to hear, honestly. Sounds like they took one step forward, two steps back from Dragon Age 1.
Too bad the writing in the romance scenes just SUCK. It's like Twilight, but with better acting.
waaaay ahead of you, buddy.

self explanatory
also, more rage:
>Q: What is your least favorite thing about working in the industry?
>A: Playing the games. This is probably a terrible thing to admit, but it has definitely been the single most difficult thing for me. I came into the job out of a love of writing, not a love of playing games... I'm really terrible at so many things which most games use incessantly -- I have awful hand-eye coordination, I don't like tactics, I don't like fighting, I don't like keeping track of inventory, and I can't read a game map to save my life.
And Bioware used to write such awesome game dialogue too...........wtf happened Bioware.........
Romanced Fenris as a male character. Twice! Hurray for bisexual characters!
Bioware hired a 250lb yaoi fangirl to write this stuff
First thought when i read this, "game-lore wise, does the chantry allow this?".
It seems that DA2 just isn't better than DA:O in almost every way.

ughh
bioware you're officially dead to me
It seems that DA2 just isn't better than DA:O in almost every way.
DA:O was a brilliant game. I could tell just by looking at it that DA2 wouldn't surpass it.
I'll probably still pick DA2 up, but when it ditches that $60 price tag.
I couldn't care less, I think bioware is just leaving the options open for any kind of sexual orientation, if you're a straight male and don't wanna have bisexual or gay relationships in a game, then just don't use those options, they're quite clear.
I banged Isabella, I'm cool with that.

did you lick her chin
bioware loves chins
"And if there is any doubt why such an opinion might be met with hostility, it has to do with privilege. You can write it off as “political correctness” if you wish, but the truth is that privilege always lies with the majority. They’re so used to being catered to that they see the lack of catering as an imbalance. They don’t see anything wrong with having things set up to suit them, what’s everyone’s fuss all about? That’s the way it should be, any everyone else should be used to not getting what they want."
this is possibly one of the best quotes i have ever heard

that made me think of this
The truth is that making a romance available for both genders is far less costly than creating an entirely new one.
I would have much preferred it if they had focused the effort that would otherwise have been used on making every NPC romanceable with every character on more important story elements like giving the one dimensional characters like merril (ditzy to the point of retardation) and fenris (hates mages) more than one fucking charter trait. If they managed to create characters half as interesting and relateable as Alistair from DA:O then I'd call it a win.
I think they just made every character bisexual so you had the opportunity to fuck every single living thing in the game

I don't understand. When you're male for example, you can say 'no' when you have the option to romance a male companion. What is the problem? Ocassional gay remarks? Like Zevran in DA:O?

if you say no you get disapproval points
if you say no you get disapproval points
uh, so? they hardly affect that much since you can easily regain it, or even just try to get more disapproval to unlock his passive ability
