Title. He will mostly be using it for surfing the internet, so it doesn't need be some sort of gaming powerhouse. Any suggestions?
Some small netbook, probably. I hear you can even play games on some of them.
A gaming powerhouse. /sarcasm Yeah, what esalaka said. A netbook most preferably. That would work the best I'm sure. (Netbook) You can buy a can of coke for fifty cents. (Laptop/Computer) You can buy a golden can of coke for five hundred dollars. Which one would you buy? Netbooks are cute anyways. <.<
I have an ACER laptop for web surfing and that's about it. It does it's job very well though. I've also heard good things about their netbooks.
Get a netbook. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220681 I've heard Windows 7 Starter sucks and is really limited so either upgrade or switch to Linux.
This one seems reasonable. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220740 But if he can fork over a little more cash, then this one seems all the more suiting. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220705
* Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the "Windows Basic" or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek. * Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes. * The ability to switch between users without having to log off. * Multi-monitor support. * DVD playback. * Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media. * Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer. * Domain support for business customers. * XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.
seems the only important thing is background, so your right. But if your planning on gaming, stick with windows.
