A 16 year old student in Florida saved the life of a fellow student by disarming another student with a .22 revolver aimed point blank. Read more at

Amazing isn't it. He was suspended because of "An incident with a weapon." At least he can go back to school monday.
This just makes me... Ugh.
You have to hate Zero Tolerance policies, you get in even more trouble for trying to defend yourself than the guy trying to beat you up.
You have to hate Zero Tolerance policies, you get in even more trouble for trying to defend yourself than the guy trying to beat you up.
They conflict with my zero bullshit policy.
and then crazy conservative commenters Not here, I'm talking about the commenters on the article's own page.
zero tolerance policies are outright retarded if you are trying everyone under the same circumstances. it's why somebody who harms another person in self defense isn't tried for violently assaulting his aggressor or why rape victims are not charged for being underage etc

Wouldn't want someone to fight the person killing people
wat okay this is a stupid suspension!
Somebody signed off on this suspension. That somebody needs to seriously consider how their life has lead them to the point of punishing people that save lives.
You have to hate Zero Tolerance policies, you get in even more trouble for trying to defend yourself than the guy trying to beat you up.
i, along with p. much every other finn, know what you mean
I honestly just don't get school policies anymore, this literally makes NO SENSE AT ALL.
Guys, it's not completely crazy for the school to not want kids involved in something like this to come to school for a few days. This is all we actually heard from the district:
The school’s referral slip said he was given an “emergency suspension” for being involved in an “incident” with a weapon. Lee County School District spokesman Alberto Rodriguez said in a statement that “If there is a potentially dangerous situation, Florida law allows the principal to suspend a student immediately pending a hearing.”
I had to disarm a kid with a knife at my school, he got pissed off because the kid across from me was messing with his girl so he stormed into the class with a knife and started to threaten the kid. After it happened I was told by the police to not mention the incident and that the school "should not acknowledge my bravery." They wanted to keep everything on the down low to benefit the track record of that school, I don't care much though. I wouldn't have reacted any other way knowing what I know now, just some chickenshit behavior between two ego filled meat heads. Either way everyone in the class knew what happened.

This is probably less of a disciplinary suspension and more of something they are doing to make sure everything is checked out.
why are people reacting like this? there was an incident at school and both parties got suspended for mostly a couple of days until things settle for a bit and details come forward. it's not like they're trying to punish the guy for being a hero.
why are people reacting like this? there was an incident at school and both parties got suspended for mostly a couple of days until things settle for a bit and details come forward. it's not like they're trying to punish the guy for being a hero.
But how can I be incoherently angry if I'm made to understand everything.
A few days off for saving a life is the least he should get
Whatch the public eat whoever imposed the rule. Raw
why are people reacting like this? there was an incident at school and both parties got suspended for mostly a couple of days until things settle for a bit and details come forward. it's not like they're trying to punish the guy for being a hero.
Because he didn't deserve a punishment for what he did. Being suspended gives you unexcused absences, causes you miss tons of work and classtime etc
You have to hate Zero Tolerance policies, you get in even more trouble for trying to defend yourself than the guy trying to beat you up.
Zero Tolerance policies are really cowardly. They take the responsibility of making potentially controversial decisions away from officials.
Because he didn't deserve a punishment for what he did. Being suspended gives you unexcused absences, causes you miss tons of work and classtime etc
He's not being punished.
He's not being punished.
Last I checked a suspension is a punishment?
Guys, it's not completely crazy for the school to not want kids involved in something like this to come to school for a few days. This is all we actually heard from the district:
Suspension is touted as a punishment though
Suspension is touted as a punishment though
suspension is pretty much punishment. You can't really make up any homework/and or tests when you've been suspended.
suspension is pretty much punishment. You can't really make up any homework/and or tests when you've been suspended.
He was only suspended for a few days. He can catch up. [editline]2nd March 2013[/editline] And what, suspensions aren't only as a punishment, they're doing it potentially for his safety
why are people reacting like this? there was an incident at school and both parties got suspended for mostly a couple of days until things settle for a bit and details come forward. it's not like they're trying to punish the guy for being a hero.
Sensationalist Headlines Gurant is an insult to Sensationalist Headlines won't let us have our fun!!!
now he'll have a permanent record with being "involved in a gun incident" that's amazing...
now he'll have a permanent record with being "involved in a gun incident" that's amazing...
ok now you're just acting like people are going to blame him later on what also oh god the comments
JCLDWL Posted on March 2, 2013 at 11:19am The problem is he prevented an event that could have been used to further their gun confiscation agenda.

00100111 Posted on March 2, 2013 at 12:06pm Of course this suspension makes perfect sense to liberals. Liberals need dead children. Liberals need a body count. We can’t have people disarming and disabling active shooters, that just doesn’t fit the narrative. We have to let kids know that in the face of a shooter, you have to let yourself be killed for the good of the collective. We must not allow kids to defend themselves or others, it doesn’t fit the narrative.

MARINE 1 Posted on March 2, 2013 at 12:48pm That’s right, let the gunman just kill the kids and do nothing about it. Our children have been taught that liberal garbage in the public schools – be nice – play nice – everybody wins – no one will get hurt – you are wrong for doing something right – and the list goes on. Life is not that way! What needs to be done is to take the administration out back and beat the living $#!^ out of them. Maybe, just maybe, they will wake the heck up. Every teacher should be armed – the intelligent ones anyway, and someone should have killed the gunman which solves the problem. The military doesn’t teach us to be nice to our enemies now does it? The police carry guns just to round out the fashion look, right? Wrong! There are nut jobs in the world and guns are needed. If David had been able to use an AR-15 against Goliath he would have. Instead it was a sling and a rock. Holy smokes, people! Get with the program. GOD expects you to defend yourself – not stand there and die. As for the student that disarmed the bad guy, way to go! Worry not about being suspended as that may be the best thing to ever happen to you. Find a nice private, God-loving, Constitution-loving, Gun-loving school and have your parents enroll you there. Semper Fi

BOBFROMMOSINEE Posted on March 2, 2013 at 1:26pm Yes, To a Liberal a raped dead woman is preferable to a live survivor who defends herself with a gun, And Yet again we see here the stupidity of the 0 tolerance policy of the Liberals, They would rather see a dead child rather than Cheer the Heros who saved that child’s life, When you or some one else is attacked, You have the right to defend Yourself, or the other Person, It is the Criminal Bully who is responsible, This treating the victim as a contributor problem is NEW SPEAK 1984 in the worst way.

LIBERALISM_IS_MENTAL_RETARDATION Posted on March 2, 2013 at 1:37pm Liberals are mad because they could have used this situation to promote gun control even harder. Libs don’t care about the safety of our kids. I think they really want things like this to happen because their communist cause is more important than the life of a human or a child. The left are gutless pigs
if you think FP is misreading guys then wow :v: these people are FUCKING CRAZY
