Just curious, how many wrestlers are on here? Doesn't matter if you do freestyle, Greco-Roman, or folkstyle, just as long as you do ACTUAL wrestling, and not that fake "pro wrestling" crap. I thought it'd belong here because it's one of the most physically straining sports there are, and this subforum is about fitness, right?
I myself do freestyle and Greco-Roman, and I'm pretty good at it.
And for those, what's your favorite move? Mine's the suplex, or the blast double leg takedown.
I used to wrestle back in the day. Wrestled 8th grade and freshmen year.
Wrestled Heavyweight,215 and 189, before the weight class change. Had a pretty damn good season too.
randy orton checking in
IDK how wrestling stayed a collegiate sport while boxing stopped being an activity in schools.
Does the US not realize how fucking phenomenal their boxing prospects at the olympics wouldve been had it remained a collegiate sport?
Cuba fucking slays almost everyone for a reason.
Never wrestled but I do Jiu-Jitsu and no gi Jiu-Jitsu sometimes. I still feel like I'm better at no gi since I trained it for a solid 5-6 months a while back. Started gi BJJ (again) back in February and I still flail around and sort of freak at times since I have to think more with the gi on. I always end up more tired from rolling in the gi.

Did you wrestle freestyle or greco?
Did you wrestle freestyle or greco?
whatever the highschools do. It was over 3 and a half years ago though. I was never good with any technique, I just was really strong and fast, and good at flipping the shit out of people when I was on bottom (no homer)

High schools, at least mine, did freestyle, folkstyle, and greco-roman. I'm fast for a heavyweight, and strong :v
Bottom was one of my strongest areas, but top, not so much. I ended up suplexing the guy on bottom most of the time anyway, but from standing is where I'm best.

Brock Lesnar is in the WWE, which is the stuff you called "fake" I bet you anything anyone of those guys could out Wrestle anyone of us any day and not because of their size, but because they were ACTUAL Wrestlers who spent years doing it. Don't diss something you know nothing about, I have so much respect for these guys and what they put their bodies through so it rubs me the wrong way when people thrash on it.

alright cena take it easy.
pro wrestling isn't fake, scripted is a more accurate term, as injuries do happen
this thread is for the kind of wrestling where the outcome depends on your athletic performance and not what a booker decided
now that we got that outta the way, carry on
you bet son
this is me last week

Lol, just wanted to clear things up. I know what the thread is for, I just don't like when people diss the other kind of Wrestling like it's a walk in the park haha. And yes you're right, scripted is a much more accurate term.
its still fake.
yeah
p.s brock lesnar is a bitch and has one of the most dynamic allergic reactions to getting punched in the face I've ever seen from a grown man.
i dont even have allergies from blocking with my face

the guys a fucking beast, look how fast he won the UFC heavyweight title. He was never an MMA fighter, he was a WWE Wrestler so what he did was impressive, he beat up guys who have been doing it their whole lives. But I do agree he couldn't take a punch.

Lesnar was a botch in MMA history. He won the title largely because of luck and that the rest of the division really sucked. I used to think he was an awesome fighter until I realized he was a wrestling brawler and would totally throw out jiu-jitsu and good striking.
Does MMA wrestling count?Because this is my sport. :D

Not luck.
Lesnar was the definition of a carried fighter. The path was paved for him, and then when he had to face real opposition, he crumpled. He gave up in the overeem fight, anyone who has ever been a fighter could fucking see it, he was scared before the fight, and then when he couldnt get the shot (which was a half hearted attempt in the first place), he resided to letting overeem walk him down and finish him.
I don't consider that his wrestling was impressive just because he was a WWE star, thats bullshit. The dude wrestled all throughout high school and college, at a very high level, I should expect that he's got workable wrestling at the very least. But its not impressive when a 265lb man can shoot on a 220lb man who has never had good takedown defense and complete the shot, thats not impressive.

It was so satisfying seeing Overreem knee the fuck out of Lesnar.
But about his wrestling, I didn't even know he was in the WWE until basically after he retired. All I knew was that his high school and college careers were pretty damn good. But again, I felt that's all he really had. That's why I describe him as a wrestling brawler.
I wrestled year round from for 6 years in middle school and high school. Mostly folkstyle but I also did some freestyle. I attended many camps and was fortunate to live in an area with a lot of high level coaching available.
I haven't wrestled for about a year but I'm starting bjj tonight at a gym nearby. I got used to steamrolling people a lot in wrestling nothing better than blasting through some sorry motherfucker with a double but I am looking forward to the slower more technical pace of bjj

I took Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a year and a half, and I didn't really like it as much as wrestling.
But, flying triangles, triangles, and armbars are always tons of fun to get in.
I'm interested in taking up Wrestling next year, which is better skill-wise? Greco-Roman or Freestyle?
Learn freestyle and then once your comfortable with it get into greco roman
I'm interested in taking up Wrestling next year, which is better skill-wise? Greco-Roman or Freestyle?
Freestyle first.
Greco Roman is pretty damn hard, especially if you don't have any experience in wrestling.
Freestyle on the other hand, is easy if you know what you're doing, and if you have high endurance and great technique.

is this post satire
Used too then in a Greco roman tourny I got suplexed and it worsened my back so my mom said no more wrestling. Luckily she doesn't really understand how BJJ works so I can do that.
I've done greco-roman at a few MMA gyms, I picked it up relatively quickly because it just suits my body well. Just one of those things I'm good at naturally, like kicking.
