Skype call causes sounds to output through laptop speakers instead of headphones/external speakers

When NOT in a call, all sounds will play through headphones/external speakers. (!) HELP. I uninstalled my sound drivers and let Windows reinstall them to no avail. I was able to individually select windows media player to play back through my headphones, is there a way I could do this with Chrome?
Double check your Playback devices and see if anything is unusual and check your Skype's output device.
^Windows won't allow me to select my headphones as the default playback device. Is that unusual? Skype's output is selected as my headphones.
try only using the speakers that you want to use by disabling the ones that you don't want to.
My setup is probably similar to yours in the sense that I have a Samsom Meteor Mic, and it has a headphone jack for monitoring but it can also be used for listening to other stuff. When I DO NOT disable the Samson Mic, the voice chat output would be the laptop speakers and other ouput (music, games) would be from the Samson.

Looks like this. If I disable the Speakers / HP I get no sound except the Skype call, and Windows Media Player since I was able to individually select that for my headphones/external speakers.
Guess I don't remember how to embed images.

also take a screencap of your playback devices and skype's selected devices

Yes my external speaker has a headphone jack. The results are the same whether I plug it in there or plug it directly into the laptop jack.
oh, so your headphone also acts as your mic. What headset is this (because headsets usually come with their own drivers)? And have you tried searching and see if the driver conflicts with windows 7 (IDT in this case)? When a headset comes with its own driver, the windows default driver might cause some problems.
Does this issue occur in other voice chat programs? Say, Discord? Mumble? TeamSpeak?
Nono, the headphone is some bullshit off-brand crap that solely acts as my headphones. The mic comes from the on-board laptop mic, located next to the webcam. I tried downloading Realtek Audio drivers but nothing seemed to happen when I installed them. A quick google search shows IDT to be a typical audio driver for machines.
I haven't tried those.

Well I found a Chrome extension that allows me to change which tabs output to which device. Helps me do my job a lot better now. Temporary fix 'till I get a new computer. Thanks Rikimaru for your help and patience.
