I also saw a similar one conducted in the US, actually very close to where I live. I can't find it now, though.
Wow...
Wow. Good find.
My sister took her mac, yes I know she has a mac. But she took it in to get the keyboard replaced and they were gonna make her pay 400 dollers for keyboard replacement. Of course she didn't do that, bought a replacement one at the Ipod place and saved 390 dollers.
Oh come on, if a good looking female comes into your store asking for technical assistance, are you not going to take a peak at the contents of her harddrive? I mean really..

I've seen a similar experiment where they purposely unplugged the IDE cable and brought it to three different shops, and two out of three shops tried to scam the "customer", and the one that didn't try to scam the customer simply plugged back the cable for free
I just got my computer fixed a few months ago....
Nice.

These pricks give us techs a bad name...
holy crap , they are total dicks
This is why you should always try to fix shit yourself.
One happened near us too. They changed a bios setting to not boot from the hard drive, but 3/4 of the companies they tested said the hard drive was faulty, or that it needed to be reformatted. The 4th shop guy fixed it at no charge on the spot.
They are complete dicks.
Thank god I have a good knowledge of computers.
