• No signal, faulty cpu?

After installing my new AMD 955 x4, all led's light up, fans spin, but monitor gets no signal. It doesn't also doesn't beep (I believe it normally beeps once when starting) Any suggestions before I RMA the processor. I've already tried reseating everything, and resetting the CMOS. Motherboard: Asus M3A78 CM GPU: EVGA GTX 460 RAM: 4 GB DDR2 PSU: Cooler Master 650w
Did you try a different/onboard GPU?
If CPU fan runs i doubt it's CPU and it should give error codes as constant beeping even if it would be your CPU.
Did you try a different/onboard GPU?
The graphics card has worked fine in the past, but I'll switch it out with my 8800GT and see what happens. Nope, same issue with the old card. :frown:
If you put the old CPU back in does everything run fine?
If you put the old CPU back in does everything run fine?
Trying that next. The way the case is built, it's a bitch to get the heatsink in and out, so I was saving that for last. It seems that will have to wait, as I don't have any thermal paste. (stock coolers on both, with preapplied thermal paste)
Got more thermal paste today, with the old CPU everything works fine. Put the new CPU back in, same problem. :frown: I found this though. Could it be the issue? http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/264415-31-warning-motherboards Hopefully I have enough thermal paste to take it out, put my old cpu in agin, install the bios update, then put my new cpu in again :v: I may have to make a best buy run for thermal paste twice in the same day.
it will be fine without paste for a bit, also if you only just put it on, it should be fine to switch it over without re applying
Fixed, problem was it needed a BIOS update to support Phenom CPUs. The 955 stock fan is ridiculously loud though, Time to invest in a new heatsink I guess.
