Can I use a HDMI cable and play my PS3 through my laptop screen?
You would have to use a capture card, unless your laptop has a TV Tuner of some sort, what laptop model and brand is it?
MSI emachine
What model number?
A6200 457AU
If this is a laptop and the HDMI port is built in, it's only going to be an output.
Don't some videocards s-video have video in-out?
there's no other way, without opening the laptop and doing hardware wizardry, which i doubt anyone has ever done.
Your best bet is just to get an external USB capture card.

Those ports are pretty much deprecated and can only be found on old graphics cards.

Also, you don't want to be playing your console game on a computer screen if it have to go through a capture card. There will be a very dramatic delay between the time where the frame was rendered and the frame seen on the screen.
The input lag will be awful on a USB capture card.
