• Ben Elton's live television comedy debut crashes to planet Earth
BOTH the Seven and Nine networks had a shocker, even though one was at the top of the ratings tree and the other had fallen pretty hard. Nine came under fire for violating good taste. What was supposed to be the jewel in the crown of Nine's schedule this year, Ben Elton Live from Planet Earth, was only No 22 in the ratings list and averaged just 455,000 viewers. For comparison, the top program was Seven's Packed to the Rafters on 1.9 million. Even Ten's infamous Yasmin's Getting Married reality show rated higher than Elton.nElton's reception was so bad that a common call on Twitter was to "bring back Warnie", Nine's other failed entertainment show hosted by cricketer Shane Warne. The self-titled Home of Comedy failed to mention Elton in its own ratings report yesterday, although, to be fair, Elton did beat 6PM with George Negus, which had just 382,000 viewers. While Seven News was one of the highest-rating shows on Tuesday night, with 1.2 million viewers, political editor Mark Riley was copping a lot of criticism for his "shit happens" report on Liberal leader Tony Abbott. The network, which was forced to defend the report yesterday, did, however, have the top four shows of the night and is winning the first week of this year's ratings by a significant margin. Seven is leading the ratings after just three nights, despite Nine's Underbelly telemovie on Monday and the cricket on Sunday. Seven has a network share - all the digital channels added up - of 32.5 per cent to Nine's 28.7, Ten's 20.3, ABC's 13.1 and SBS's 5.4. Seven's answer to MasterChef Australia, My Kitchen Rules, is bringing in impressive audiences three nights a week.
http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/television/ben-eltons-live-television-comedy-debut-crashes-to-planet-earth/story-e6frfmyi-1226003458565
I guess that what happens when you put on a man who claims he can feel wifi.
That's actually more of a reason to watch him, to be honest.
Implying 98% of things on terrestrial television aren't shit, or reruns.
am I the only one who has no idea what this thread is talking about
am I the only one who has no idea what this thread is talking about
I don't know either
I don't know either
HAH. now you know how I feel every time I watch family guy/american dad/all those yank shows referring to personalities I've never heard of.
I thought Live was gonna be pretty crap, my friend watched it and said almost none of the sketches/jokes were funny at all.
I'm not surprised Ben Elton's show didn't do well. It's a shame TV sucks almost all the time.
That's actually more of a reason to watch him, to be honest.
Yeah but a man who can feel WIFI in his leg is as much bullshit as Today Tonight.
Yeah but a man who can feel WIFI in his leg is as much bullshit as Today Tonight.
George Negus is the biggest fucking idiot, yeah. During flood coverage he interviewed Kevin Rudd, whilst standing knee deep in floodwater in Kevin Rudd's electorate and was like "Now you dont really have much to do with the floods, do you?"
I think Channel 10 should stay out of the news... Leave it to people like Nine, ABC and Seven.
Oh, it's Australian. No wonder I don't get what it's about.
I stopped watching when the two teen sluts started going on about fan-wah facebook pictures [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] that was the first skit
I think Channel 10 should stay out of the news... Leave it to people like Nine, ABC and Seven.
Really? See, because I think out of the three commercial channels, 10 has the best team in Perth.
Really? See, because I think out of the three commercial channels, 10 has the best team in Perth.
Whatever happens in Perth? Other than fires.
Whatever happens in Perth? Other than fires.
about twice as many things happen as things that happen in South Australia
event size/importance =! quality of reporting.
I saw the ads for the show, it looked shit.
