Lyrics are from a poem of the same name, written by Keith Trim. The text may be found here: http://hellopoetry.com/poem/mote/ just a bass guitar used on this one. drums made in a guitar program instead of using LMMS this time around. wear headphones, turn up the volume To those who have heard my real singing voice, I did it this way on purpose. Some hogwash about setting the mood.
[editline]28th June 2011[/editline] Trying to mimic the feel of "Now You're Taken" by Mogwai
I can hear that you're trying to the mogwai thing. The chords on bass are quite nice. The quality of recording on the drums is pretty terrible though. Was it recorded on a phone? It is clipping so much at 5:40. And much too panned. Most drum recording setups have multiple mics, each panned a little bit, rather than the whole kit being placed left or right. Also, the ride from about 2:30 onwards got pretty annoying. It also failed to keep my interest for that long. Almost 8 minutes is a long time for basically one idea. I know that post-rock such as Mogwai likes to spend ages evolving an idea, but this didn't have much evolving, apart from the loud section 5 minutes in. One thing I did like was the poem you used for the lyrics- they are very interesting. I like the idea, but it's not quite there yet. Keep at it, because I can hear some good ideas in there!
Thanks! The drums weren't real. Usually I make them in LMMS, but this time I used Guitar Pro, a tablature program. [editline]6th July 2011[/editline] And the clipping is most likely due to the filters I put on to try and get that Mogwai feel. Guess I failed miserably.
