After the 25 January Democratic town hall, Emily Nussbaum, television critic for the New Yorker magazine, tweeted some positive feedback for Hillary Clinton.
"I'm into Hillary, obviously, but I genuinely thought she did really well tonight," Ms Nussbaum wrote.
About a half an hour later, she followed up with this: "Man, the Feel The Bern crew (as opposed to Bern himself) is such a drag. Say anything pro-Hil & they yell 'bitch' & 'psycho.' V idealistic!"
Others - including a number of prominent members of the media - followed with their own reports of seeing Sanders supporters deploying vicious rhetoric towards anyone questioning the Vermont senator or his backers.
Author Sady Doyle said her tweets about Sanders supporters resulted in "several hundred angry notifications in a 24-hour span from that cohort," she wrote. "Someone also said *I* should die if I thought some Bernie supporters were kinda sexist."
Some say Sanders is the symptom, not the cause - the "Bernie bro" is just an old troll with a new name. Indeed, Sarah Jeong, a journalist who is the frequent target of sexist attacks, has received so much vitriol in the name of Sanders she set her Twitter account to private - even though she too is a Sanders fan.
Kathleen Geier, a freelance contributor to The Nation and herself a Sanders supporter, says while she has gotten her fair share of ugly online comments from male Clinton supporters, the level of vitriol coming from what she calls a "tiny minority" of Sanders boosters troubles her.
Being a Bernie Sanders supporter is enough to ruin any reputation you had.
its only natural left wing radicals would flock to bernie just as right wing radicals flock to trump. its a shame they gotta make themselves known, tho. it puts a bad image on every other sane supporter.
I have to say, they're a lot more agressive than any other type (from what I've personally seen). They seem to take the stance that they're opinion is the correct one. Not to say that others don't, but they get farily agressive when challenged.
Being a Bernie Sanders supporter is enough to ruin any reputation you had.
Why, exactly? It's not exactly like Clinton, Trump, or the GOP madhouse candidates are any better... In fact, I'd say they're significantly worse.

nice
Possibly something to do with the fact that Bernie's base is primrily made up of youths who historically have a tendancy to be more radical.
Pretty on the spot, I say. Sanders supporters can get intense. There are people who throw around words like "bitch" and "cunt" and "whore" for Hillary while praising Sanders and it makes them look like slobbering cultists who violently hate anyone who isn't Glorious Bernie, Savior of The United States
Ron Paul was like this too, Paul supports were the same "LAST HOPE FOR THE US RIGHT HERE" kind of crowd

Banning a followers of a religion from the US is not radical? Because youths certainly aren't Trump's target audience.
As a supporter who is not even an adult yet, turning 16 in a few weeks, Sanders supporters online are pretty annoying.
They seem to take the stance that they're opinion is the correct one
Said every troll and extremist that exists. This isn't new behavior at all.

Yes. Exactly. You just answered your own question. Do you think Trump's old/christian/conservative base will be using social media to the same extent as Bernie's young/liberal/tech savvy base?
You guys are confused. Trump isn't targeting geriatric bible-thumpers, that's for Ted Cruz and Ben Carson.
Trump's target audience is anyone dissatisfied with the GOP establishment, he's an outsider with a loud voice. He holds more appeal to younger voters than you would think.
I mean when stuff like a literal 15 year old calling random people in Iowa is considered awesome publicity it starts to look a little weird
Like she said, this is a vocal minority being ass hats and ruining it for everyone else.

This dude is a chronic shit poster, I'm 90% sure he's a gimmick but who knows.
literally every candidate has die-hard supporters that will do shit like this. Sanders, Trump, Clinton, whatever. doesn't matter. this isn't exclusive to just Sanders' supporters.
i'm not discrediting the fact that Sanders' supporters have a massive online presence, though.
It's 2016, why are people still suprised that other people post offensive and hateful things on the internet?

Maybe because Bernie is the antithesis of a corporate sellout, which is what anyone not aligned with Hilary sees her as?
People use derogatory words directed at people they don't like, what's your point?

why act so hostile? i'm not taking any sides, i'm just saying it's wierd how people seem to jump all over hillary and sling slurs at her on a moments notice
"politician's supporters are radical and scary and also the internet makes them worse" states reporter who bravely delved into the comments on a number of facebook fan page posts
you'll find the same garbage asshole fans of literally anything online, what exactly is new here, there's more online presence with younger people, to which he resonates with, and with that comes the butt end of the deal with how accessible every ounce of the group becomes

I don't like Hillary, and I don't think she'd be fit to lead the country, but I don't think worse of people for voting for her. She's the establishment candidate, after all; the default.
So, basically, Bernie Sanders is the Undertale of politicians now.
Great politician by himself, but his reputation starts to diminish because of his more extremist supporters being very loud and annoying.
Not saying every Bernie supporter is shit (just as not everyone who likes Undertale is shit), that would obviously be a stupid and very untrue thing to claim.
And it's not like his supporters are creating fanfic-esque porn with him. At least, not yet...
That all being said, just as with Undertale, it's better that you judge Bernie by his actual merits, rather than his fervent supporters.

Are you kidding? Theres a pretty large group of tech savvy people who support trump and use it in their favor to spread the Trumpening.

Doesn't matter what it is, it will have its extremists that make it weird for everyone else.

well this was a rollercoaster

Bernie's promise of "free shit" isn't realistic. Yeah that shit could happen but someone has to pay for it, I don't think most Bernie supporters realize they're going to have to pay for it with heavily raised taxes.

And Trump's wall is realistic?
not liking a politician exclusively because their supporters are annoying is a pretty damn childish reason.

Washingon post published an article on a survey that says that the strongest deciding factor for Trump supporters is dissatisfaction with immigrants and a contemptuous attitude toward blacks
