Donald Trump said on Friday that he would not necessarily accept the results of the presidential election in the event that Hillary Clinton defeated him, reversing his statement four days earlier that he would “absolutely” respect them.
After the first presidential debate on Monday, the Republican nominee told reporters “absolutely I would” honor the results of the election should he lose. In an interview with the New York Times on Friday, he backtracked: “We’re going to have to see. We’re going to see what happens. We’re going to have to see.”
Earlier that day at a rally in Detroit, Trump resurfaced fears of voter fraud and his unsubstantiated complaints of a “rigged” election. He told supporters that voter fraud is “a big, big problem in this country”, although research has found a few dozen potential incidents of in-person voter fraud in 14 years of US elections. He also urged them to “go and watch the polling places and make sure it is on the up and up”.
No one gives a shit what you will accept, Trump.
Also telling people to go watch polling places is a little scary. It sounds like a disguised endorsement of voter intimidation.
i can't wait until after the election where this ignoramus fades out of the headlines and i don't have to see him every other article

His voters do.
And if close to half the country thinks that the elections are rigged in some way because of him, then Trump is directly threatening American democracy.

Looks like everyone here forgot what happened with Bernie Sanders
This just in: Man who doesn't know the meaning of the words 'integrity' and 'credibility' strikes again.

I think the systems in pretty much every country undermine what is democracy, but it's not as simple as rigged or as simple as Hillary is rigging it against Trump.
This great Politico article points out that, thanks to Congress neglecting to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, if there were to be a full-fledged 2000-style election dispute this year, the Court might be unable to resolve it as it could split 4-4.

It's not the first time Trump has threatened democracy. He is the greatest present threat to constitutional rights in the Western world, having personally and repeatedly endorsed revoking several key provisions of the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and fourteenth amendments.
[editline]/[/editline]
Hell, possibly even the 2nd amendment depending on how he plans to enforce his policy of preventing people on terror watchlists or no fly lists from purchasing firearms -- he has never actually explained the specifics of how this would be put into action. Given that there is no official appeal process for being removed from a watchlist (even knowing if you are on one is difficult), in an extreme scenario it could essentially be used as a way to remove guns from anybody he wants not to have them. Same goes for Clinton, of course, who has endorsed the same policy while similarly failing to expand on it.
I actually can't imagine how anyone could consciously support donald trump at this point
I got this impression when he was rambling his answer before finally saying "yes"

At least he has promised to uphold Article 12 of the Constitution though

Poland has gutted their Constitutional Court, Hungary's constitution has been amended in the likeness of the ruling party, Greece has to check if their new laws are in agreement with outside bodies. I am sure I am forgetting a ton.
Trump might be a constitutional threat, but it's no good to exaggerate.

Alright then, I'll qualify the statement a bit more specifically for the sake of accuracy: Donald Trump is the greatest present threat to US constitutional rights in the Western world.
Surprise, surprise, this good for nothing piece of human garbage is again endorsing voter intimidation by telling his supporters to watch poll booths.

Or saving it really, depending on whether he's right. Not that I agree but there's always more than one perspective. I think it's important to try and understand (while not neccesarily agree with) them all

We heard you the first time.

He's not though, the US has such scale and the voting process is structured in such a way that makes it impossible to mass-rig elections. That's not to say that US democracy isn't undermined by other things, including gerrymandering and voter suppression, but rigging is on another scale altogether.

This is a good philosophy to have in the sense that it keeps you open-minded, but not all views are equal. Some political/personal views are nuts and should be dismissed out of hand. You are wasting your time on someone claiming that the government is poisoning our water supply in order to brain-wash us, for example.
What he said doesn't really seem bad at all. It doesn't sound like he changed his mind
I haven't been on Facepunch in ages, and I'm so glad it hasn't fallen victim to the /pol/ bug

Oh, don't worry it's flared up here too.
I almost feel like Trump repeats things as a way of convincing himself they're true, given that he's a narcissistic liar who has zero qualms about lying about things he said at a nationally-televised debate he participated in immediately after the end of said debate.
Narcissism means never being able to accept that you could fail or be anything but the best, on a pedestal above all others. And by the time you're Trump's age, that requires an incredibly complex and sophisticated system of reality denial.

I'd agree with you except for the fact that the US now uses electronic voting machines, and they're about as transparent as lead and as secure as an unattended donut in a kindergarten.

/pol/ in general has always been a haven for bigots and racists. They've been waiting for someone like Trump for ages.

There's a handful of them on here, it's just that they ignore anything that is critical of their narrative.

thats a huge generalization there, at best its a small minority of trump supporters that think that it is rigged, the vast majority of voters will accept the results
thought damage control was supposed to occur AFTER the damage, not way before it
Trump has very little interest in helping the country if he just wants to always turn it in on its self, why people think this clown should be president is beyond me.
There's that great temperament he's so well known for.
