What? This promotion was just announced today (well, technically yesterday), October 22 by AMD, and it hasn't been posted yet in SH (and many more people read SH than the news node.) Also, AMD's page says that the deal is good until the end of March 2013 or until all promo keys are claimed.
Theirs already another thread by shacknews bot.

That's a great promotion. Awesome marketing move.
Damn, I should have waited 2 weeks to get my Radeon HD 7970 ghz ed.
Meh, AMD.
I prefer Nvidia. Prettier video cards, faster performance.

Incredibly false and bias viewpoint you have there.
"prettier"
why the fuck does it matter if it's inside your pc

do you like pink frilly socks too?

Now let's use those relative performance figures (since the percentages are all units of performance) and the latest price figures (in units of dollars) to come up with actual price:performance comparisons. This is just unit conversion, middle school stuff.
Cheapest GTX 680 on newegg: $460
Cheapest 7970 GHz: $450 and it's 2% faster over all ~20 games and benchmarks that compromised that figure above, so it's (100/450)/(98/460) = a 4.3% better performance/price ratio.
Cheapest 7970: $400 (thus 87% of the price of a 680) and yet 93% as fast, so it's (91/400)/(98/460) = a 6.8% better performance/price ratio.
Admittedly, the 7970 uses more power and the driver interface isn't as elegant, so it depends on whether or not you think that's worth paying more and sacrificing a bit of performance for.

This fucking driver, this fucking driver increased my FPS in BF3 by about 10FPS. That is a good driver improvement. Good job AMD, good release.

That benchmark is now out of date with this new driver.
As someone with very little experience with PC building, I've never really gotten why the graphics cards have to look so nice. Yeah, they look great, but I guess it must just be for advertising, since you're never going to see it again unless it has a problem or you're replacing it.

This is very true, the 7-series is an even better buy now.

I have an AMD card because I prefer not to have the fire department on speed dial.

What does your amd card idle at right now? Pretty sure my 670 is lower :v:

Zero core.
What does your amd card idle at right now? Pretty sure my 670 is lower :v:
My relatively old 5870 is idling at 28 degrees in a case that's practically lined with dust, with no water cooling or anything special about it.
4870 here oc'd to 790/1005 running 4 years straight now with fan speed at 40%. Can play even the latest games perfectly fine either at all high or medium/high

That joke is so old my grandfather died 14 years ago.
I miss ATI
I have an AMD card because I prefer not to have the fire department on speed dial.
I don't need to. I just have my computer inside my freezer. Tried overclocking though. It spoiled my steaks I had in there.
Trust EA to not give a free game, but a coupon.
Still, better than nothing and now I might look more at ATI cards.
I can live with medium-high end stuff for a while more.. But in the necessity to upgrade, I'd totally pick this one up because the games choice is very interesting.

I don't think they're going to be ready to offer free games for quite a while after the recent Origin incident..
Will the promotion last? I can see myself buying this in some years time. I can live with medium-high end stuff for a while more.. But in the necessity to upgrade, I'd totally pick this one up because the games choice is very interesting.
Video cards come with games pretty often, but not usually so many (and such good ones at that). This deal expires towards the end of March 2013, but new hardware will probably be on the horizon by then.
Just bought a xfx 7900 series. does this mean that i won't receive anything?

I think better of EA after they essentially gave away a million dollars worth of games instead of punishing for a error on their part.
Seems like a desperate move to me...
Will the Never Settle driver run The Settlers?
the link to OcUK on the AMD website goes to a voucher for the whole deal, but the individual cards dont mention anything apart from sleeping dogs....
