Tangled climbed past Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 just as the movies' trajectories suggested, though neither held well. Hollywood generally shuns the post-Thanksgiving timeframe in regards to new releases, and it was no exception this weekend: The Warrior's Way was the sole nationwide debut and a weak one at that. Overall business was down 14 percent from the same weekend last year when The Blind Side led, and it was the least-attended post-Thanksgiving weekend since 1997. Tangled drew an estimated $21.5 million, tumbling 56 percent from last weekend. Walt Disney Pictures last Thanksgiving princess event, Enchanted, was off 52 percent at the same point, grossing less but selling more tickets. In 12 days, though, Tangled has generated $96.5 million, which was well ahead of Enchanted's comparable $80.9 million tally, and it will soon surpass The Princess and the Frog's $104.4 million final total. Again, around 56 percent of Tangled's business was from 3D-illusion presentations. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 plummeted 66 percent to an estimated $16.7 million, falling harder and making less than Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on its post-Thanksgiving weekend. In 17 days, Deahtly Hallows Part 1 has earned $244.2 million, trailing The Twilight Saga: New Moon's $255.4 million day-17 tally and all previous Potters in terms of estimated attendance through day 17.
Bullshit, Twilight doing better than Harry Potter is horseshit, I mad
Saw both, Harry Potter was better but I guess I understand this as Tangled has a better demographic (basically alot of kids and other people) while with harry potter you have to be a fan of the series to watch it and like it.
Potter was unavailable for comment as he was tangled up in his search for the horcruxes.
Bullshit, Twilight doing better than Harry Potter is horseshit, I mad
Twilight?
Bullshit, Twilight doing better than Harry Potter is horseshit, I mad
When are you never mad at something that is completely pointless?
Bullshit, Twilight doing better than Harry Potter is horseshit, I mad
You're jealous of Stephanie Myer's talent, fame and ability to write stories
You're jealous of Stephanie Myer's talent, fame and ability to write stories
That's like being jealous of someone's ability to make an ass of themselves.
It's amazing. I didn't even hear of this movie untill a few days after it launched, and apparently it's amazing. I'm going to have to go see it.

Both Were really Good For Different Reasons Tangled had Perfect Comedy, Wasn't an Annoying Musical, And Had a Great twist to the Story Harry Potter is Bad Ass, About a teen who wants to save the World, or at least the wizard world, and every 2 seconds something sad happens. Tangled probably won though because of the Demographic.
I think because people expect the harry potter movie to be shit compared to the book.
I think because people expect the harry potter movie to be shit compared to the book.
No, Its not that.Wasn't Harry Potter a Best Seller a few times? Its most likely its the reason that one movie has a broader Demographic of All Ages while HP7 Appeals Mostly to Teens and Young adults.
Tangled is a Disney film too. Everyone watches Disney.
I haven't seen either yet, waiting for Netflix to acquire them.
tangled wasn't pixar quality but it wasn't a bad movie so i'm not surprised by this.

I have never even heard of Tangled.
I have never even heard of Tangled.
It was pretty good if you're into animated disney musicals
I have never even heard of Tangled.
Fantasy/Comedy/Musical that uses the Story Of Rapunzel With A Twist [sp]She has Magic Hair from a Flower that her mother drank....Juice out of when she was sick while in labor, the flower originally was owned by the main villain in secret,Guards find the flower because she accidentally left the Casket she hid it in Open and thus, since the flower is gone, Rapunzel Has Magic Hair.[/sp]
Tangled has a wider age demographic than Harry Potter, that's all really. You also have to consider the fact that because Tangled has such a lower age demographic, parents are inclined to come to the theater as well, adding more ticket sales as a result. You can play this game about any movie you want, but you won't prove anything logical about how one was a better movie unless the margin is significant. Saying that Tangled is better than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the rough equivalent of saying that apples are better than pineapples. tl;dr: Tangled has more sales because it appeals to a wider age group than HP7.
about as much as you being a good poster
Well I am a very good poster, so I seem to have rested my case.

Never heard of Tangled. What is it?

Hey, Tangled was awesome. I'll let it have first place this time. Even though Harry Potter was better.
