DAVID Cameron is set unveil new plans today to block people accessing pornography on wireless internet available in public places.
The plan to impose a ban where children are likely to be present follows high-profile campaigning by children's charities for a complete block on unacceptable sites in public areas.
Mr Cameron has insisted that the Government has a responsibility to provide "good clean Wi-fi" in public areas.
WHY
We've GOT to protect the children
People who watch porn in public are a bit weird anyway.
They're banning it in PUBLIC wifi hotspots, not your home wifi.
Calm your tits
great now i won't be able to go into my local mcdonalds, buy some food and watch some awesome porn while jacking it :c
It makes sense to be honest.
Why would you be using porn in public places, especially where children are likely?
Oh, would someone PLEASE think about the children!?
Who the fuck watches porn in public, anyway?
And then Cameron realized his mistake when trying to download "Oil Overload 2" in the local coffee shop.

If Cameron doesn't who will???
Isn't it the establishment's right to decide what is and what isn't accessible through their Wi-Fi?
Good, I don't want to walk down the street or sit in a coffee shop and have the guy next to me jacking off.
The government doesn't have an obligation to provide shit in terms of wifi.

You do know it's illegal to jack off in public already right?
I don't see a problem with this, who even watches porn in public anyway

Just ask peewee herman
Why are people freaking out, this makes sense
it's gonna be annoying when the filter will block something it shouldn't be blocking (which is pretty much guaranteed to happen)
This... Really isn't a bad idea.
No FUCK YOU I wanna watch creampies and anal in the lobby of the daycare center!
already happens a buttload of times with O2's mobile internet filter
I'm actually ok with this.

You ever watch Venture Brothers?
Jackson Publick admitted in an interview with Wizard (?) magazine that Sgt. Hatred was inspired by some guy they saw watching foot fetish porn at a Starbucks, citing the man's "intensity and disregard for society's sexual mores."
Its only a bit of porn if you have to bang one out at maccy d's its no big deal
No, thanks. I prefer my own 'impure and filthy' wi-fi with blackjack and hookers.
It needs to be strictly porn, though. If I go on Facepunch (or any other site) to be greeted with "This website is blocked because it contains pornography" I'll be pretty pissed. Considering that I live in Denmark, it's not that likely, though.

Oh god this.
I bet you any fucking money we end up with a filter word system that literally sweeps a page for the word 'porn' or 'xxx' and then immediately fucks you over.
I'm at work right now so I don't have time to read the article fully but if this an ISP thing I'm going to be worried.
If it's just a law that places have to follow then I'm not fussed, as long as it isn't through the ISP because that would only mean the start of something worse.
What about studs who re using public wifi because they can't afford an internet connection?

proxies or VPNs
There's no way their filter could possibly block "just porn". They can try- your not going to be happy.
It's unclear if this applies only to gov supplied wifi "(does this exist?) or (more likely) this would apply to any free wifi the general public has access to (coffe shops). I wouldn't think this would apply to paid wifi the general public has access to (ie some coffee shops charge for access) but who knows...

I remember when I went to a cyber cafe when I was a kid, where we used to LAN WC3 / CS 1.6 etc and there was some dude in his late 50's just sitting there watching porn, I was about 15 thinking, what the fuck? the guys @ the cafe didn't even care, was pretty funny.
I'm wondering as well, if you access a public wifi , do you leave evidence that you have used it?
