Source: AFP
BERLIN police have released a photograph of the mysterious "forest boy" who turned to authorities nine months ago saying he lived in a wood for five years and did not know who he was. Police in the German capital sent a picture of the smiling blond boy wearing a T-shirt and a gold necklace to news outlets asking for help in getting to the bottom of a story that captured the world's imagination last year. "Despite the extensive studies and investigations, the youth office and the Berlin police were still not successful in identifying the boy who calls himself Ray," the police statement, which was published in German and English, said. "Who knows the person shown in this picture? Who can give any information about his identity? Who can give any information about the person's possible relatives?" Giving his name only as Ray and his date of birth as June 20, 1994, the teenager sought help on September 5 at Berlin's City Hall speaking English and just a few words of German. "He claimed he only knew his date of birth and his first name. He was sent to youth emergency services," police said. "There he told an adventurous story." The boy was unable, or refused, to give his family name, birthplace or any other biographical information but said he had spent the last five years living in a forest with his father until he died suddenly in August. Ray told police he had buried his father "in a hole in the forest underneath some stones" but, after "walking north for five days" to Berlin, could not explain how he had died or where authorities could find his body. "A corresponding dead body has still not been found," police said. Ray said his mother Doreen had died in a car accident, which he also did not remember, when he was 12 and that he assumed scars on his face were incurred in the crash. After a brief stint with Berlin's emergency youth services, Ray was placed in an institution for assisted living and assigned a legal guardian. "The youth office and the Berlin police have great doubts about the boy's story," they said in the police statement. "That is the reason why the youth office now decided to publish a photo of Ray and ask for your help." Police estimate that he is between 16 and 20 years old and said he had blue eyes and was well-groomed with an athletic physique. He has three scars on his forehead, another three on his chin and one on his right arm. He was carrying a tent, a sleeping bag, a new-looking backpack and clean clothes when he turned up in Berlin. The chain around his neck had a pendant with the letter D, which Ray said was for his mother, Doreen. The puzzling case made international headlines when it first emerged last year. Police said they hoped the picture would prompt someone to come forward with more information about his past.
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/police-seek-help-on-mystery-forest-boy-who-lived-in-woods-for-five-years-and-has-no-idea-about-his-identity/story-e6freuy9-1226393706133 Strange....
Strange all right. All his evidence points to being a prank to be honest. (new looking backpack after 5 years?)
He's fucking well dressed for a forest dweller.
His hair would be a mess, his backpack wouldn't look new, and his clothes would be dirty and torn if he had been in the woods for 5 years.
His hair would be a mess, his backpack wouldn't look new, and his clothes would be dirty and torn if he had been in the woods for 5 years.
Who's to say he didn't find some campers, waited until night then just stole their stuff.
I'm pretty skeptical that this is true, it all just sounds far too dramatic
Given the time between his father dying/showing up in Berlin, and the date of the photo, I'm assuming that the photo was taken AFTER a night with emergency youth services. Y'know, make sure he looks as normal/cleaned up as possible before taking a photo for identity. An English speaker in the German capital seems a little too extravagant for a prank, but he's not exactly a child either.
Brother?
His hair would be a mess, his backpack wouldn't look new, and his clothes would be dirty and torn if he had been in the woods for 5 years.
Or his dad visited nearest town couple of times per year to buy some supplies?
His hair, they don't look dirty at all, especially after living in woods. Don't give me that he stole the fucking shampoo.
I could have sworn this has been posted a long time ago
Or he is/was on drugs. :v:
Rated late because i already read this about a year ago or so. Nevertheless pretty strange story
Well then stroke my tiny but juicy cock.
Actually, you're both right. This is a recent article, but it's just a follow up from an old story from September, only now it has the picture of the boy.
Yeah this story is about a year old

those who are saying its fake because his hair doesnt look messy or his clothes dont look dirty, use some common fucking sense. i know, it makes ur brain huuuurttttt, but use it. they obviously cleaned him up before taking a fucking picture.

> Gold chain > Perfectly cut hair > Clothes that fit perfectly Even if he stole some camper's stuff, I seriously doubt he took somebody's gold chain off their neck while they were sleeping and it magically fit him perfectly. If he actually did pull some Hatchet shit, he wouldn't look nearly as good as he does in the photo.

You can never shower, or wear different clothes. If you do, people will assume you're lying because you don't look like you've been living in the forest." "But, surely they'll realize that if I go into civilization, I'm not going to stay dirty and wearing gross clothes--" "The sad thing is, THEY WON'T."
I could have sworn this has been posted a long time ago
So I'm not the only one!
This is almost as weird as those stories where you hear about people suddenly having amnesia and wandering for miles into different countries, then starting a new life with a new identity there.
I could have sworn this has been posted a long time ago
This is an update of the story. When it was first posted it didn't include a photograph.
