:siren:THIS THREAD IS A PRETTY MUCH CONSTANT WORK IN PROGRESS, SO IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE ADDED TO THE THREAD LET ME KNOW:siren: To do list:

Add separate section for deliriants
Expand on the section for psychedelics and dissociatives
Make something to separate the different sections
"For the aspiring psychonaut." --The Basics-- Hallucinogens are psychoactive drugs that cause changes in thought and emotion, expanded consciousness, altered perception, and of course, hallucinations. Naturally-occurring hallucinogens in plants, such as magic mushrooms or peyote, have been used by humans for millennia, with some cultures regarding these plants as holy, and the experiences derived from them as spiritual and highly religious. In more recent years, hallucinogens have begun to be used recreationally, and chemists from around the globe have even synthesized new, artificial drugs with hallucinogenic properties. There are three distinct classes of hallucinogen: psychedelics (referred to as the "classical" hallucinogens), dissociatives, and deliriants. Modern slang refers to the effects of hallucinogens as a "trip." --Set and Setting-- The phrase "set and setting" refer to one's mindset and surroundings at the time of a trip. A healthy mindset and environment are essential to fully enjoy the psychedelic experience and better mitigate the possibility of having a bad experience. Stress, hectic and/or dark environments, and solitude can cause some seriously bad vibes. Being in the supportive company of others, being at a relatively quiet and peaceful atmosphere, and having an overall comfortable setting are examples of good set and setting. :siren:Serious disclaimer for those who are unfamiliar with hallucinogens::siren: Hallucinogens cause very distinct mental changes in their users. Hallucinogens, especially psychedelics, can force a user to look inward to resolve internal conflicts. Those who are dealing with emotional problems like the death or illness of a loved one, a break-up, or other issues, are at a very increased risk of having a "bad trip," an unpleasant and often terrifying psychedelic experience that can permanently change a person if they're unprepared for it. If you're dealing with emotional problems, I advise you to not use hallucinogens until you've resolved your problems, or to take extra precautions before taking one of these drugs. --Planning Your Trip-- Many hallucinogens and most psychedelics are very long-lasting drugs, some lasting for well over twelve hours. Sometimes hallucinogens can be unpredictable and last even longer than they normally should, too. Thus, if one wishes to trip, they should plan for it accordingly. Obviously, set and setting should be taken into close consideration - tripping at a death metal concert would probably be a very, bad idea, for example. Doing it in a very public place, like a grocery store, would also be a very, very bad idea. If inexperienced with hallucinogens, tripping by one's self is asking for trouble. Time should be a major consideration as well - hallucinogenic drugs, as mentioned previously, last for a pretty long time. Dropping acid two hours before a job interview would be a very, very, VERY bad idea. Contact should be limited to those whom you are familiar and comfortable with. Taking care of yourself during the trip is perhaps the most important. One should take care to remain hydrated and satiated. Bodily functions tend to be forgotten, so don't forget to get up and take a piss every so often. Chewing gum helps for grinding teeth, chapstick for dried lips, eyedrops for dry eyes, and so on. Long-lasting hallucinogens usually fuck with you mentally in ways that can become overwhelming or uncomfortable - being alone can be a catalyst for this. Of course, with experience comes control, but I personally find that maintaining social contact will minimize the mind-fuck and keep it at a comfortable level. Now on to the good stuff: the drugs themselves. "The classical hallucinogens." Perhaps the most widely recognized hallucinogens of all, psychedelics are drugs which significantly alter perception while also stimulating the conscious mind. Naturally-occurring psychedelics have been used throughout history by various cultures including the Incas, Aztecs, and the Navajo to achieve enlightened states or spiritual insight. Artificial psychedelics, created in laboratory settings, have been used as weapons as well as spiritually and recreationally. Whether natural or artificial, psychedelics have become a source of great inspiration, spiritual prowess, and entertainment for the people that choose to use them. --Lysergic Acid Diethylamide-- Usually referred to as LSD, lysergide, or simply "acid," LSD was first synthesized by Swiss chemist Albert Hoffman in 1938 as part of a research program for discovering medicinal uses of Ergot alkaloid derivatives (LSD was created from compounds found in the Ergot fungi). Its psychedelic properties were not discovered until five years later when Hoffman received an accidental dose of the drug, leading to a series of events now affectionately and appropriately called Bicycle Day. In the years that followed, various governments attempted to research the properties of LSD as a potential weapon. However, it was soon popularized as a recreational drug through the San Francisco Haight/Ashbury hippie movement, leading to its eventual ban nearly worldwide. Despite its currently illegal status, LSD is still widely used today by people from around the globe. LSD is usually found in the form of a liquid or in paper "tabs." The compound is absorbed into sheets of absorbent blotter paper which can be adorned with designs and pictures. To ingest the drug, a tab of acid is held in one's mouth for about a half hour or more to allow the LSD to be absorbed into the bloodstream through the membranes of the mouth. ACID TABS [img_thumb]http://www.thelmagazine.com/images/blogimages/2010/04/26/1272313306-acidtabart.jpg[/img_thumb] EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION A typical dose of LSD, around 30 micrograms, will generally cause effects on the user lasting anywhere from six to twelve hours. Larger doses can cause a much longer duration of effects. The effects themselves can include: POSITIVE

mental and physical stimulation
increase in associative & creative thinking
mood lift
increased awareness & appreciation of music
sensory enhancement (taste, smell, etc)
closed- and open-eye visuals
life-changing spiritual experiences
therapeutic psychological reflection
feeling of oceanic connectedness to the universe; blurring of boundaries between self and other
NEUTRAL

general change in consciousness
pupil dilation
difficulty focusing
increased salivation and mucus production (causes coughing in some people)
unusual body sensations (facial flushing, chills, goosebumps, body energy)
unusual thoughts and speech
change in perception of time
quickly changing emotions (happiness, fear, gidiness, anxiety, anger, joy, irritation)
slight increase in body temperature
slight increase in heart rate
increase in yawning (without being tired)
NEGATIVE

anxiety
tension, jaw tension
increased perspiration
difficulty regulating body temperature
nausea
dizziness, confusion
insomnia
megalomania
over-awareness & over-sensitization to music and noise
paranoia, fear, and panic
unwanted and overwhelming feelings
unwanted life-changing spiritual experiences
flashbacks
--Magic Mushrooms-- Another well-known and common hallucinogen, "magic" mushrooms contain the natural psychedelics psilocybin and psilocin. Supposedly, humans have been taking shrooms since the dawn of man, with our ancient ancestors gathering psychedelic mushrooms for ceremonial use. Shrooms were especially used by Mesoamerican cultures like the Maya and the Aztecs, and even by Eastern European cultures including Poles and Russians. Some users of magic mushrooms will either cultivate the shrooms themselves or go on "shroom hunts" to find, identify, and harvest wild psilocybin mushrooms. Magic mushrooms grow in almost every part of the world and can be easily found during the Spring and Summer. DRIED MUSHROOMS "WET" MUSHROOMS EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION A shroom trip generally feels very dreamy, wondrous, and almost surreal, while still retaining a sense of reality. Dosage varies depending on the species of mushroom, but a typical dose of the most common psychedelic mushroom, Psilocybe Cubensis, is about an eighth of an ounce of dried fungi. A dose will usually exhibit effects on the user for anywhere from four to seven hours. Effects can include: POSITIVE

mood lift, euphoria
increased giggling and laughing
creative, philosophical or deep thinking : ideas flow more easily
boring tasks or entertainment can become more interesting or funny
sensation of insight
life-changing spiritual experience
intense feelings of wonder
paradoxical feeling of a normalcy and deep alteration of psyche
may interrupt cluster sequences in those suffering from cluster headaches
NEUTRAL

feeling more emotionally sensitive
general change in consciousness (as with many psychoactives)
time perception alteration
time seems to pass more slowly (minutes seem to take hours)
sensitivity to light; lights seem brighter
starring and rainbow patterns around pinpoint lights
increased detection of motion in peripheral vision
open and closed-eye visuals (common at medium or stronger dose)
sleepiness, lethargy
pupil dilation
sensation of energy or buzzing in the nevous system/peripheral limbs
memories come to life
NEGATIVE

intense feelings of fear
headache, usually as effects wear off, sometimes beginning the next day, lasting for up to 24 hours
nausea, gas, gastrointestinal discomfort, especially when mushrooms are eaten raw and/or dry
mild to severe anxiety
dizziness, confusion
lightheadedness or fainting (in cases of lowered blood pressure)
can precipitate or exacerbate latent or existing mental disorders
working memory disruption (reduced ability to do tasks requiring current remembering and attention)
--Mescaline and the Sacred Cacti-- In the Americas, there exist several species of cacti containing the naturally-occurring psychedelic alkaloid mescaline. The most well-known of the cacti in question is Peyote, which has been used for thousands of years by Native Americans like the Apache, the Navajo, and over fifty other tribes in North America alone. In South American Andes Mountains, peyote's counterparts are found in the forms of the San Pedro and Peruvian Torch cacti, which have been likewise used medically and spiritually for thousands of years by indigenous cultures like the Incas. PEYOTE "BUTTON" DRIED PEYOTE "BUTTONS" [IMG]http://www.ionsclub.com/col/images/plants/peyote_dried%20lophophora.jpg[/IMG] MESCALINE EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION A typical dose of pure mescaline is around 400 mg, which should be taken in capsules or sprinkled and dissolved into water or juice. For peyote, and depending on the potency of the specimens in question, eating 6-12 buttons constitute a good dose. For san pedro, a length of cactus about the length of one's forearm is recommended for a single dose - eating that much bitter, nasty cactus is obviously unpleasant. A much preferred alternative is to brew a tea out of the cactus through a process of cutting up and blending the length of cactus, boiling the mush, and repeatedly filtering the remainder through a cloth to end up with a bitter tea full of mescaline and other psychedelic alkaloids. Of course, mescaline can just be extracted from any sacred cacti, but the process is lengthy, time-consuming, and complex for the inexperienced. The effects of mescaline can last from 5-8 hours for a single dose, but will increase with larger doses. Effects can include: POSITIVE

feelings of insight
brightening of colors
closed and open eye visuals
mood lift, euphoria
increased giggling and laughing
increase in energy (stimulation)
increased tactile sensation
happy, dreamy feelings
feelings of hope or rejuvination
increased access to spiritual ideation; deep esoteric experiences
NEUTRAL

general change in consciousness (as with most psychoactives)
loss of appetite
change in body temperature regulation
unusual thoughts and speech
unusual focus on either small details or large concepts; changes in meaning or significance of experiences
mild to extreme distractability
changes in perception of time
changes in perception of "reality"
changes in self control
unusual body sensations (facial flushing, chills, goosebumps, body energy)
ego softening
pupil dilation
body tremors
urge to urinate (in early stages of experience)
restlessness
NEGATIVE

(likelihood of negative side effects increases with higher doses)
nausea and/or vomiting
chest and neck pain (in early stages of experience)
shortness of breath
uncomfortable changes in body temperature (sweating/chills)
confusion, difficulty concentrating, problems with activities requiring linear focus
difficulty communicating
inhibition of sex drive
insomnia
unpleasant or frightening visions
unwanted and overwhelming feelings, depression, anxiety
paranoia, fear, and panic
--DMT-- Dimethyltryptamine is another naturally-occurring psychedelic. It is regarded as one of the most powerful psychedelics known to man. It is found in several species of plants, most notably in the Amazon, where the plants have been used by the indigenous tribes for millennia both medicinally and spiritually. The natives powder the plants into snuff or dry them to be smoked. Normally, DMT has to be smoked or snorted to experience its psychedelic effects, as DMT is completely metabolized by the digestive tract. However, when combined with MAO inhibitors, the DMT can pass through the membranes of the stomach and small intestine unmetabolized to eventually reach the blood-brain barrier. The native tribes of the Amazon somehow learned to brew a tea composed of various plants containing DMT and MAO inhibitors, allowing the DMT to be orally active. This drink, Ayahuasca (or spirit vine), is revered by the natives as a holy sacrament and spiritual tool. How they discovered Ayahuasca remains unknown, and will most likely remain unknown. Drinking Ayahuasca or DMT in its orally active state lengthens the duration of the trip from a few minutes to a few hours. It is regarded as an extremely powerful and spiritual experience not to be taken lightly. PURE DMT CRYSTALS AYAHUASCA [img_thumb]http://shamanism.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/ayahuasca_brewing_1.jpg[/img_thumb] EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION (INHALED/INSUFFLATED DMT) When smoked or snorted, the duration of DMT is quite short, spanning only a few minutes. Peak effects are reached within a minute and can last for several more, but the drug distorts time and can make those few minutes feel like several hours. In fact, DMT is referred to as the "businessman's drug" for its short duration. An average dose of DMT in its pure, crystal form is about 20mg. In this form, the come-up and come-down are very abrupt, with effects starting and ending almost instantly. The effects of DMT: POSITIVE

short duration
immersive experiences
intense open eye visuals and kaleidescopic patterning
powerful "rushing" of sensation
radical perspective shifting
profound life-changing spiritual experiences
NEUTRAL

change in perception of time
auditory hallucinations / sound distortions (buzzing)
colorshifting (for example red green and gold coloring to the whole world)
NEGATIVE

overly-intense experiences
hard on the lungs to smoke
slight stomach discomfort
difficulty integrating experiences
overwhelming fear
fast onset and intensity can lead to problems if not prepared (dropped pipe, knocking things over, falling)
EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION (ORALLY-ACTIVE DMT: AYAHUASCA) If taken in its orally active state of Ayahuasca, a DMT trip can last for several hours depending on dosage. According to users of both Ayahuasca and standard DMT, Ayahuasca is a much "softer," desirable experience and is quite different from inhaled DMT. In contrast to the effects of inhaled or insufflated DMT, the come-up and come-down are much gentler and drawn-out as well. The effects of Ayahuasca: POSITIVE

mild to extreme mood lift, euphoria
ego softening / ego loss
oceanic feeling of connectedness to the universe
feelings of love and empathy
a sense of inner peace and acceptance of self, others, and the world
profound life-changing spiritual experiences
emotional healing / mentally therapeutic
claimed physical healing (such as anti-cancer effects)
NEUTRAL

sedation
strong visions; some typically reported include snakes, big cats, insectoid aliens, female goddesses
meaningless visual "noise"
auditory hallucinations / sound distortions
altered sense of space and time
increased likelihood of embracing magical thinking, paranormal ideation
NEGATIVE

nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, body aches, sweats/chills (alternating), and other flu- or food poisoning-like symptoms, much less common after multiple experiences
fear and/or paranoia
feeling as though one is losing one's mind
feeling as though one is dying
disequilibrium, difficulty walking
--The "2C Family" and the Magical Half-Dozen-- The 2C Family of psychedelics is a much lesser known group of hallucinogens. They are artificial psychedelics, most of which were synthesized and created by chemist Alexander Shulgin during the 70s and 80s. They are referred to as designer drugs, being that they were designed to get around the legal implications of possessing hallucinogenic drugs - in fact, some of them remain legal substances to possess today, but will likely join the long list of banned substances soon enough. The list of 2C chemicals is quite long, and describing all of them would probably need another thread, so I'll only discuss the most "worthwhile" ones, which Shulgin referred to as the "magical half-dozen." (The so-called "magical half-dozen" includes the artificial substance DOM and the natural substance mescaline. Mescaline, along with the 2C chemicals, are phenethylamine-type psychedelics. It can be inferred that the 2C chemicals are, in fact, derivatives of mescaline. The chemical 2C-E is sometimes referred to as synthetic mescaline for having similar effects.) Serious warning regarding the 2C family as well as all research chemicals: many research chemicals look extremely similar or even identical to each other. That familiar, white powder we all think we know can easily be mistaken for a different substance. In the past, and again recently, batches of an extremely potent psychedelic called Bromo-Dragonfly (only slightly less potent than LSD, active in the hundreds of micrograms) have been mislabelled as 2C-E and have caused overdoses which lead to the death of the users. If you're unsure of your substance, take a "testing" dose of a grain or two of powder (which should be a few hundred micrograms) to make sure that it's not bromo-dragonfly. If no effects are felt within two hours, then your substance is not bromo-dragonfly and you can safely dose higher. 2C-E Uncommon and relatively unknown as well as legal to possess for "research purposes," 2C-E is sometimes referred to as bleach, "europa" or "synthetic mescaline." It exists in a powder/crystalline form and can be ingested orally or insufflated. Insufflating 2C-E is extremely painful, however, earning it the nickname bleach. The effects are reminiscent of mescaline. A standard dose is 10 mg and will typically exhibit effects on the user for anywhere from 6 to 10 hours. 2C-E POWDER [img_thumb]http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/2ce/images/archive/2ce_powder__i2009e0488_disp.jpg[/img_thumb] 2C-B 2C-B, sometimes called Nexus, was once hailed as a legal replacement for ecstasy in the mid 1980s due to the strong physical effects reminiscent of MDMA it exhibits on users. However, along with the body high, 2C-B is known for its extremely colorful as well as subjective psychedelic properties. It can be found in powdered form, or found pressed into pills. Standard dose is about 15 mg, with effects lasting on the user from 4 to 8 hours. The powder can be capsuled and ingested or insufflated. 2C-B PILL 2C-T-2 Also quite uncommon, 2C-T-2, sometimes called Rosy, is similar to 2C-B in effects and dosage. However, 2C-T-2 can last for a very long time, reportedly lasting up to 16 hours. The body load is also much more pronounced, even unpleasant for some. The psychedelic effects can be very unpredictable even for experienced users, and very little research exists on 2C-T-2. A very fickle substance, to say the least. Can be found in pill or powder form. The powder can be capsuled and ingested or insufflated. 2C-T-2 PILLS 2C-T-7 Referred to as blue mystic or simply T7, 2C-T-7 is another member of the magical half-dozen, notable for its "unique" visual effects in comparison to other psychedelics. However, it is also much more dangerous - it has purportedly caused a few deaths, but the deaths in question involved the combination of several other drugs along with excessive quantities of insufflated T7. It, like most other 2C chemicals, is found in powder form and occasionally in tablets. Proper dosage varies wildly from person to person. Effects from a single dose can last from 6 to 12 hours. T7 TABLETS Dissociatives, like psychedelics, also produce visions and hallucinations. However, the mental affects are almost the opposite: whereas psychedelics enhance one's conscious mind, dissociatives actually block certain signals to the conscious mind. Users can become unresponsive, entering a dream-like trance - hence the term, dissociated. Communication becomes difficult, simple tasks become impossible. Dissociatives can have depressant or sedative effects as well. --Salvia Divinorum-- Salvia Divinorum, the diviner's sage, is a dissociative with psychedelic properties and a history of usage in Mesoamerica by indigenous tribes of Native Americans. Commonly referred to as simply Salvia, it has gained popularity quite recently thanks to a surge in usage by teenagers and the subsequent media hype. While Salvia remains a fairly unregulated drug, its usage and possession have been made illegal in certain municipalities. Luckily, by specific legislation, it is legal to possess in California for adults and Salvia extract can be purchased at almost any corner head shop in the state. More potent extracts have been known to send its users spiraling into psychedelic wonderlands, but many people consider Salvia to be unpleasant, despite its fairly short duration. Salvia extract can be smoked, while the fresh leaves can be chewed as a quid to produce longer-lasting effects. SALVIA DIVINORUM SALVIA EXTRACT EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION Salvia is well-known for its fairly short duration, lasting only 20 to 45 minutes, with peak effects lasting for only a few minutes. Dosage depends on the quality of the extract or quid, as potency varies widely. An accurate set of tables for dosage in accordance with potency can be found here. Effects can include: POSITIVE

short duration (when smoked)
radical perspective shifting
increase in sensual and aesthetic appreciation
creative dreamlike experience
insight into personal issues
NEUTRAL

powerful closed- and open-eye visuals
general change in consciousness (as with most psychoactives)
altered perceptions
change in body temperature, flushing
sensation of physical push, pressure, or wind
sensation of entering or perceiving other dimensions, alternate realities
feeling of 'presence' or entity contact
dissociation at high doses, walking or standing
NEGATIVE

overly-intense experiences
fear, terror and panic
increased perspiration
possible difficulty integrating experiences
higher doses can cause inability to control muscles and maintain balance: falls are reported.
mild to moderate headache, usually starting after effects wear off
--Ketamine-- Ketamine is a dissociative lovingly referred to as "horse tranquilizer" or just "K." Like Salvia, it is notable for having psychedelic properties as well as dissociative ones. Ketamine has been used as a sedative, anaesthetic, and tranquilizer for animals as well as humans, but has of course taken on recreational usage in recent years. Typically reported to be very pleasant, although it can become distressful if effects become too intense. While not physically addictive, prolonged use builds a tolerance and can lead to psychological dependency. Can be found in a liquid or powdered crystalline form. KETAMINE POWDER [img_thumb]http://whomurderedrobertwone.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/ketamine2.jpg?w=300[/img_thumb] EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION As mentioned before, Ketamine has dissociative as well as psychedelic effects. A pleasant body high and detachment from one's surroundings is to be expected. Visuals are common. An average dose is around 15 to 20 mg, and the effects can last for up to an hour. The negative side effects of Ketamine increase with higher doses and frequent use. Common effects can include: POSITIVE

Pleasant mental and/or body high
Increase in energy
Euphoria
Sense of calm and serenity
Meaningful spiritual experiences
Enhanced sense of connection with the world (beings or objects)
NEUTRAL

Distortion or loss of sensory perceptions (common)
Open- and closed-eye visuals (common)
Dissociation of mind from body
Analgesia, numbness
Ataxia (loss of motor coordination)
Significant change in perception of time
Increase in heart rate
Slurred speech
Confusion, disorientation
Out-of-body experience
Shifts in perception of reality
"K-hole"; intense mind-body dissociation, out-of-body experiences, highly realistic visuals
NEGATIVE

Risk of psychological dependency
Nasal discomfort upon insufflation
Discomfort, pain or numbness at injection site (with IM)
Severe confusion, disorganised thinking
Paranoia and egocentrism (with regular use)
Nausea, vomiting
Frightening or untimely distortion or loss of sensory perception
Susceptibility to accidents (from uncoordination and change in perception of body and time)
Severe dissociation, depersonalisation
Loss of consciousness
Depression of heart rate and respiration (risk increases with increased dose or when combined with depressants)
--DXM-- Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, the active ingredient in various types of cough and cold medicine, acts as a dissociative hallucinogen in large doses. It has become increasingly popular among teenagers due largely to its ease and availability. Although it initially causes nausea and discomfort, once the unpleasant symptoms stop, DXM is hailed as a very pleasant drug. It's also very popular here on facepunch, and a separate discussion thread about it can be found here. In its purest state, DXM is found as a pure white powder. DXM can be extracted from cold medicine (recommended), or taken by the medicine itself. Although it's an arguably simpler method, taking the pills/gel-caps or drinking the syrup itself can cause more unpleasant symptoms than pure DXM. Certain cold medicines contain a lot more chemicals than just DXM, some of which can be dangerous in high concentrations, so take extreme caution when using this method. DXM POWDER AND CAPSULES [img_thumb]http://www.pharmer.org/files/images/dextromethorphan.jpg[/img_thumb] EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION As noted before, DXM usually leads to a very pleasant experience following the initial discomfort stage of nausea and pain. The effects caused by DXM are referred to as "robotripping," a name owed to both its presence in the popular cold medicine Robitussin as well as the robot-like movement it causes in its users. Robotripping can exhibit effects on the user for anywhere from 4 to 8 hours from an average dose of about 500 mg. There is the potential for fatal overdose when taken in the thousands of milligrams, so it would be extremely difficult to overdose accidentally. Effects can include: POSITIVE

euphoria, mood lift
increased giggling and laughing
dissociation of mind from body (positive when sought)
creative dream-like experiences
increased tactile sensation
some users report empathic feelings, forgiveness, warm feelings towards others
NEUTRAL

pupil dilation
visual stop motion effect (flanging or strobing)
visual and aural hallucinations
decreased sexual functioning (difficulty achieving orgasm)
confusion, disorientation
skin sensitivity, alters tactile (touch) and skin sensations
robotic, zombie-like walking, "robo-walk"
discoordination, reduced agility
Loss of appetite
Involuntary flexing of muscles
Feelings of merging with adjacent objects like a couch or bed (with higher doses)
NEGATIVE

upset stomach, vomiting
dizzyness
body itching
rash, red blotchy skin
diarrhea
fever
tachycardia (racing, pounding heart)
some users report feeling disconnected, isolated from others
some users report hangover/depression on the following 1-2 days.
--Nitrous-- N20, also known as Nitrous, is a hallucinogenic gas which causes dissociative effects on its users. Also called "laughing gas," it is used medicinally as an anaesthetic in dentistry. Recreational use is limited, but began as far back as the start of the 19th century, when the British upper-class held "laughing gas parties." Nitrous can be found in kitchen stores (as a food additive, typically for whipped creams) and some head shops, but possession for recreational use is illegal in many places. NITROUS, "THE WHIPPED CREAM ADDITIVE" EFFECTS, DOSAGE, DURATION Nitrous is known for its extremely short duration and relatively low dosage. The gas is active with even a single breath, causing effects that can last for a few minutes, with after-effects lasting for up to a half hour. do one on weed too cause it's a kinda unclassed drug on its own
You should add some of the more obscure psychedelics, like DMT. I don't know anything about DMT for example. Good thread though.
You should add some of the more obscure psychedelics, like DMT. I don't know anything about DMT for example. Good thread though.
Working on adding more substances now, I figured it'd be a good idea to post it while it's still in progress to get ideas from the posters
I laughed at the San Pedro dosage. Eating a cactus the size of your fucking arm doesn't sound pleasant. Gotta extract that shit. Don't forget to add stuff like DPT, AMT, the 2C family and LSA, to name a few. Good thread so far though.
I laughed at the San Pedro dosage. Eating a cactus the size of your fucking arm doesn't sound pleasant. Gotta extract that shit.
A more pleasant and much-preferred alternative is to make a tea out of it, through a process of cutting up and blending the length of cactus, boiling the mush, and repeatedly filtering the remainder through a cloth to end up with a bitter tea full of mescaline and other psychedelic alkaloids. I'm adding this to the mescaline section, thanks for bringing that up. [editline]12th May 2011[/editline] Also, I've added DMT to the OP.
Do the 2C family first, they aren't local drugs and I'd like to know more about them.

I'd rather just take the time to extract the pure Mescaline and take a couple pills :P I'll have to order me some San Pedro cuttings one of these days, Mescaline is pretty high on my "Do before I die" list. [editline]13th May 2011[/editline] Also, good information on DMT. I feel like you need to expand on the 2C family though. I'm really interested in learning more about them. They are really interesting drugs.
As mentioned before, Ketamine has dissociative as well as psychedelic effects. A pleasant body high and detachment from one's surroundings is to be expected. Visuals are common. An average dose is around 15 to 20 mg, and the effects can last for up to an hour. The negative side effects of Ketamine increase with higher doses and frequent use. Common effects can include: NEGATIVE

Risk of psychological dependency
Nasal discomfort upon insufflation
Discomfort, pain or numbness at injection site (with IM)
Severe confusion, disorganised thinking
Paranoia and egocentrism (with regular use)
Nausea, vomiting
Frightening or untimely distortion or loss of sensory perception
Susceptibility to accidents (from uncoordination and change in perception of body and time)
Severe dissociation, depersonalisation
Loss of consciousness
Depression of heart rate and respiration (risk increases with increased dose or when combined with depressants)

I'd just add that erowid lists 30-75Mg as 'standard' dose so that'd be a rather light dose. Also that on the negatives after prolonged use you get pains in your bladder, can piss crystals if you use it extensively over a short period of time and causes shrinkaging of the bladder. A part on PCP / MXE could be under Diss as well, I canw rite the latter if you wanted but don't have any experience with PCP.
snip.
Add in DXM, Add info of legal areas and what types of drugs are legal. Also DPH is a deliriant, very strong too :(
i just took 15mg of perks and i feel good as shit man i would go skate but its fuckin raining man im gonna play portal maybe now i can figure that shit out
My first ever drug experience was with salvia. It was a cool experience.
Wasn't there a mildly bigger thread on this, made a while ago? http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=803904

I'd like to add to this at some point. You've done a great job OP. since BANNED USER is the only mod who comes to this forum, i ask it be stickied? Vote agree if you agree.
Also DPH is a deliriant, very strong too :(
What other deliriants have you had? DPH ain't shit.
What other deliriants have you had? DPH ain't shit.
DPH is pretty powerful to a drug virgin.
What other deliriants have you had? DPH ain't shit.
DXM, weed. It depends on how much you take, you can take 600 and just fall asleep, and have no effects other than zoning out horribly, but if you take around 300 you will see things.

I'm working on adding a DXM section to the OP soon, along with a section for Nitrous. Weed isn't a deliriant either. In fact, as far as I know, weed hasn't really been classified since it has such a wide range of different effects. There's no other drug quite like it.
Spice is like it ;p
Spice is like it ;p
I'll give you that one, although I still prefer a nice bowl of weed over a J of spice. :buddy:
I'll give you that one, although I still prefer a nice bowl of weed over a J of spice. :buddy:
hahah perfectly agreed. Spice fucks ya up though, health wise. mary j safe<3
spice is so smooth to smoke, it tastes like cotton candy the last time i smoked it though will probably be my last, it was after a lot of weed i had my head in the quantum flux void i heard all the sounds of the universe at once and saw the fourth dimension
i had my head in the quantum flux void i heard all the sounds of the universe at once and saw the fourth dimension
That sounds pretty intense.
I've updated the OP with sections for "set and setting" as well as planning for hallucinogenic experiences. I've also added sections for DXM and Nitrous, under dissociatives. I'm going to begin adding deliriants soon, but I'm not familiar with more than a few, so if anyone has recommendations for deliriants (or any hallucinogen, in fact) drop me a line or just post it in here and I'll add a section to the OP. [editline]17th May 2011[/editline] I've also added a disclaimer regarding the 2C family as well as all research chemicals regarding the potential for misidentification of substances and the potential for accidental overdose.
I recommend under deliriants it just says "DO NOT"

Thanks for this thread it's a great read!
