He built the robot at home with basic tools and gave it the designation "Veldan," a Quranic term meaning: "Youth of Heaven." By applying some mechanical modifications such as adding two extra engines, Akbar managed to let the robot perform praying movements, such as prostration, more easily. He describes the robot as an educational assistance to teachers and believes that it has so far been successful in attracting students and should be mass-produced.
Source: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/02/26/iranian-teacher-builds-robot-to-teach-prayer/ Even robots are getting religious :v:
Soon: Allah Ackbot.
I hope that some day well see another ottoman style powerhouse of intellectual progress and cultural diversity. Its really tragic what fundamentalist islam did to the middle east.
I am Allah man
I, slam.
Is it ethical to teach a robot to be religious when it cannot think for itself? Will they say he is god's creation? Well, he is man's creation.

But I suppose the same goes for corpses, and then it is unethical. On the other hand corpses were once alive, where as robots never were, again making it not unethical. I don't fucking know.

You cant just write them off as what they ended up being.
The Ottoman Empire wasn't a thing during the intellectual prime of the Islamic world.
It also wouldnt have existed without it.
Noticed Girls and Boys in separate classrooms.
It also wouldnt have existed without it.
Uh the golden age of islam predates the Ottomans by I dunno, 549 years. Unless you're implying the ottomans were like time travelling turkish nazis. Wait why isn't that a video game yet??
in all seriousnes though. guy builds robot, uses it to teach kids to pray, rather than teach them about things that can really change their world for the better DOES NOT COMPUTE
It also wouldnt have existed without it.
The Ottoman Empire was horrible. As bad as the British empire.
I see no problem with this, props to this guy. we couldn't afford iron man, so here's IRAN-MAN!
Hah. Christians already beat them to it. Back in the medieval times they were paying people to pray for them, and that went to the extent where a few automatons were constructed entirely to auto-pray.
