Doesn't seem like a major change, only differences I'm seeing are a blue tint to the chat border, a different 'Play' button, and a boxier design on some things.
Looks nice apart from the blue chat window.
Best part of this is the Hidden category you can send all your shit games to now.

Is there a way to change/revert Steam's icon in the system tray? I like my monochrome icons down there, the blue bit is a tad annoying.

I also hate the fact that I used to guide myself from the greyish black part of the color of the steam logo in the taskbar and now my brain hurts when trying to hit steam with the mouse without looking.

Just download a skin pack, there is quite a few out there that change it back to that.
Its as simple as downloading the skin and dropping it into Steam>Skins on your C Drive and changing it in Settings.

Tried it by replacing the .ico's in steam/public. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I swear, I paste edited .ico's into there, and it's like "okay, replaced them," and they look [I]exactly the same.[/I]

somehow this beta update makes steam entirely unusable.
freezes indefinately and gets unfrozen for a split millisecond.
guess its actually a beta update and not a "beta" update this time.

I really wasn't a fan of the previous redesign, this is a step up.
Tbh the client feels fast and the design looks alright (the flat look is so much better than the shit house gradients)

Agreed, I found the gradients really grating and unprofessional, this is far more neat and comfy.
I also like the increased contrast on the text.
I do prefer this flat design instead of gradient.

Sadly it's rendered me not being able to read the UI very well, this is on either platform that I have in the house. I'm gonna have to find the older theme before this one.
It seems like they changed the "ingame green" colour. Indont like the new green.
