Hey guys, I have been loking for this answer for quite some time nw. I need to create a startup disk for Ubuntu 11.10, and my mp3 player is the only storage device I have left to do it off of. When i plug it in, it shows up under portable devices, and is not assigned a drive letter nor shows up in disk management. Is there a way I can make this show up as a removable disk and make it a drive letter so that it will show up in the startup disk creator? Thanks for the help. Its a samsung yp-t7j
depends on the mp3 player, check if there's an option in the settings for it to act like a USB Mass Storage device when plugged in
Its a samsung yp-t7j and doesnt say anything about mass storage in the settings. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] imm going to reboot into ubuntu and see if it comes up as mass storage there........ ill be back soon. doesnt seem to make a difference
it's just a matter of what kind of firmware your MP3 player has I've got a Sony Walkman and when I plug it in, it's a mass storage device labeled "WALKMAN". I don't think there's anything you can do, really.
Does it have a mode button? Try pressing that when it's plugged in.
