Seth (of SethHack, fame) pleads guilty to computer misuse and money laundering charges
A 17-year-old male from London, England pleaded guilty this week to carrying out a massive denial-of-service attack last year against anti-spam outfit SpamHaus and content delivery network CloudFlare, KrebsOnSecurity has learned.
narko-stophausIn late March 2013, a massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack hit the web site of SpamHaus, an organization that distributes a blacklist of spammers to email and network providers. When SpamHaus moved its servers behind CloudFlare, which specializes in blocking such attacks — the attackers pelted CloudFlare’s network. The New York Times called the combined assault the largest known DDoS attack ever on the Internet at the time; for its part, CloudFlare dubbed it “the attack that almost broke the Internet.”
In April 2013, an unnamed then-16-year-old male from London identified only by his hacker alias “Narko,” was arrested and charged with computer misuse and money laundering in connection with the attack.
Sources close to the investigation now tell KrebsOnSecurity that Narko has pleaded guilty to those charges, and that Narko’s real name is Sean <removed>. A spokesman for the U.K. National Crime Agency confirmed that a 17-year-old male from London had pleaded guilty to those charges on Dec. 10, but noted that “court reporting restrictions are in place in respect to a juvenile offender, [and] as a consequence the NCA will not be releasing further detail.”
The article has his name wrong (his name is actually Seth).
what a little shithead
Fucking idiot, really gets what he deserves.
16 years old and already involved with money-laundering and causeless internet terror. Bright future ahead, I'm sure.
Hopefully he can put his skills to constructive and not destructive use in the future.
what goes around comes around
Oh my god this is hilarious.
So what are the chances that all of Facepunch's ddos woes came from him?
Where do you go to rent a botnet that allows a single person to take out entire delivery networks what the hell
Be surprised what people on some forums and darknet/deep web sites sell, for £50~250 I can easily get access to a botnet of small size for between 10 minutes~2 hours and do whatever with it, combine 3 or 8 of these and go all out on one target and you've just got a large botnet, honestly just need to know where to look.

I remember learning about how he did it a while back. It actually used an exploit in call of Duty modern warfare servers so he basically could use all the dedicated servers infinity ward had to take down networks. The problem was known by infinity ward but they just refused to fix it and to be honest I think you can still take advantage of it today.

As far as I know Seth didn't use traditional botnets. He was one of the earlier people to take up amplification attacks (mostly DNS amplification and gameserver amplification). He also had a few servers which he launched syn floods from.

Cloudflare was taken out by a ntp amp attack not a botnet.

The worlds largest DDoS attack happened later on with NTP amp.

CloudFlare got attacked (big) twice.. the time with SpamHaus (Mar. 20?) and one other time with that 400 Gb/s attack (Feb. 12?). The first was DNS the second was a mix of DNS/NTP.
edit: Yeah format posted the link
I can confirm this is not Seth of sethhack. watching this thread for laughs
Isn't SethHack a ripoff of JBHack?
Correct, but Not the C++ version but in the original lua version functions were ripped.

One of the few times I'd be perfectly okay with someone being extradited to my country for cyber-terrorist charges. :v:
Just pointing out that Seth wasn't the one that developed the IW server exploit, but he certainly acted as a middleman for its sale and usage.
Either way, good riddance.
Oh god, I think I was the one who taught Seth how to code cheats in Garry's Mod.
Fuck seth, he ruined so many gmod communities.
