• Bachmann: "We Must cry out to God to Stop Hillary"
In a Monday interview with right-wing radio host Jan Markell, Bachmann was asked whether she was "one of those who just assumes" that Hillary Clinton will be "coronated." "I don’t at all because I look at the story of David and Goliath," Bachmann said, according to audio posted by Right Wing Watch. "All David needed was one smooth stone to fell the giant. It wasn’t the stone, it wasn’t David, it was the strong right arm of a Holy God.” Bachmann then extrapolated that story to 2016, saying that it's "up to us" to communicate with Him. “If we repent, if we cry out to God, we have no idea what the Lord God will do for us in 2016," Bachmann said. So I guess she relies on God to do her boring job for her.
Oh Jesus..
Yeah, okay!
Bachmann has no place in politics. Keep that shit out of the government for fucks sake.
I have a message from God to Bachmann It says: "Shut the fuck up you whiny douche."
Like god, the immortal being and creator of the Universe, actually gives a shit about your political beliefs.
I'm disturbed by the fact that she has any power at all.
I'm fairly certain God doesn't care, and I'm also fairly certain he's disappointed in Bachmann for that Egypt speech she gave.
you don't pray to God for your own benefit you dumb bitch
And if Hillary wins, then that means God doesn't give a shit about Bachmann. Check and mate. [sp]but seriously, Gary Johnson 2016[/sp]
And if Hillary wins, then that means God doesn't give a shit about Bachmann. Check and mate.
It obviously means that we didn't pray hard enough!
"I don’t at all because I look at the story of David and Goliath," Bachmann said, according to audio posted by Right Wing Watch. "All David needed was one smooth stone to fell the giant. She literally invalidates David's entire life - his knowledge of physics, of high tech (at the time) weapons and their use, and anything he was raised to believe or stand for (and even the strength of his arm!). She reduces him to a chess piece that God decided to move forwards one space, winning the game. It's frightening how much credit people give to this mythical figure - at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, they speak of their personal god dragging them by the hair away from alcohol, rather than giving themselves any credit for what they've done. I guess if Bachmann won (God forbid), I could turn around and say it wasn't her or her policy, but a weirdo supernatural being who likes things done a certain way just because. Same for if she loses. She didn't lose because of anything except that God wanted her not to win. Such is the logical clusterfuck that is western religion. They don't believe that humans ever accomplish anything - it is literally the least humanist perspective available, short of existential nihilism.
Once again, Bachmann goes and fucking assumes that God gives a damn who is elected to lead a country that He has total control over anyways
Bachmann is definitely the craziest one. I remember reading an article about anti-gay rules she sponsored in her district that caused suicides by middle and high school students to skyrocket. Also she thinks the military government in egypt is a good thing.
"But our almighty omniscient and powerful god can't control the country if the leader isn't Christian!"
This reminds me sort of how Maduro tried cursing his opponents in the recent election in Venezuela. Religion shouldn't be mixed with politics.
can ...can we just ignore bachman and maybe she'll go away already? she is like the republican version of nancy palosy and they both are painfully ignorant, horribly partisan, and terrible at their jobs.

When they have an ACTUAL fundamental depiction of the Bible and don't freak out about all the crap fundies freak out about (evolution, gay marriage). According to... dare I say.. ACTUAL Christians, she's bonkers and has no idea what she's talking about because the ACTUAL Abrahamic God does not work the same way that you see all these people on TV claiming he does.

Every Christian I've talked to about how they believe God has an impact on their life, both protestants and catholics, have this mental image that God gives strength to his believers but doesn't do it himself. E.g. David killed Goliath, and it only took him one stone because God gave him courage and focus to do it right the first time and not cock up due to stress or fear. Saying that "It's the will of God" whenever something good/bad happens, like Bachmann does, isn't strength, it's hiding from reality. :(
...A stone through the skull from a sling will kill anyone, even if they're 7'8" or whatever; and even if the stone was thrown by a 5'2" dude. Sorry, dude, but David and Goliath wasn't a miracle. Just very good slinging.

There has been a lot of progress in the European nations when it comes to their interpretation of holy texts and their relation to reality, so I apologize for the generalization. I was attempting to word what I had to say diplomatically, rather than singling out any particular hot spots. America is ill with belief, and largely lacking in reason when it comes to the Christian faith. I've not met many people of any other religion that were as extreme as Christians tend to be. I know several people who were beaten by their parents for not meeting their religious requirements, and whose parents defend the act as righteous and as 'by the hand of God'. They don't even take credit for beating their own children. I'm pretty sure if there was a god, he wouldn't let a dumb bitch like her into a position of power.

I'm surprised she's still in a political position with the way she acts. If she's basically going to rely on god for her job, I don't think she hold that job any longer.
I believe the point they're trying to convey is that not all Christians are ultra conservative bigots.
Then the question is why they choose to associate with a religion that breeds such bigotry and hatred due to the text contained in a book they proclaim to be holy, while ignoring large segments of it and calling the people who choose to interpret it literally 'untrue Christians'.
I'm already getting excited for the next election. Who knows what the Republicans will come up with next? They'll need to try hard to top Herman Cain.

It's pretty simple: Church says Republicans are cool -> republicans say church is cool -> churchgoers vote republican -> churches demand compensation from republicans because they won "only because of our pious voters" (regardless of whether this is the case or not) The more hardcore both of them become, the more likely pious voters vote republican and both profit from it.
