I think it's because of the game. Once it was made, a big boom of people knowing about slenderman showed up. You know, the people who are always like "ZOMG SOOOOO SCARRYYY" and are annoying with the whole situation of their new internet discovery. When I ask those people about how they found out about slenderman, the game would be their answer. I ask if they know about where it originated, I ask if they ever saw Marble Hornets or the SA thread, and they say that they don't know. Slenderman WAS kinda scary, and the creepiness of him had a special place in my heart. Unfortunately the whole idea is just abused by the wrong people now. But hey, I say let those people be scared of some shitty slenderman model in some video game no one cares about.

I get super mad when my friends or any other person at my school talks about Slenderman, they say that he's so scary even though they don't know the story behind it.
I only posted that picture to show content and try to keep the thread on track. It is kind of retarded though.

I think it's like the Amnesia monsters; you don't fight fire with water, but drop a block of ice on it. By this I mean, instead of waiting until it stops being scary, people make jokes with it, fighting fear with humor. I guess that also is the reason that PewDiePieGuy gets so many views.

TL;DR try playing Amnesia with a few friends and crack jokes about it, and suddenly it's not even remotely scary.
How can anyone find slenderman scary? He's become more of a meme than anything when you consider how much he's reported everywhere. It's Amnesia all over again, that game stopped being scary when everyone wouldn't shut up about it in the same way that 'The Cake is a Lie' got old fast.
