The shopping day came to a close a bit early Monday at Dakota Square Mall in Minot following a bomb threat that was called into Carmike Cinemas.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident after the evacuation and sweep of the mall found nothing of concern.
But it certainly did create some organized chaos around six o'clock.
The entire mall was evacuated as a precaution -- and that meant lots of people having to drop what they were doing and leave.
Three weeks before Christmas...not exactly what businesses would hope for.
But even though it may have meant a loss of some business, the proper call was made.
That according to Aaron Schmitz, the general manager of Minot's Scheels.
He says the decision to evacuate made sense...and people's safety is more important than making a sale or two toward the end of the business day.
(Aaron Schmitz - Scheels of Minot) "It is one of those things you don't even have to think about...you just close your doors and hope the customers understand and come back another day. Hopefully we will get those sales back."
Dakota Square Mall was back open with regular business hours today.

We have a couple of frauds to alert you to, tonight.
The first one involves an unsolicited phone call that people have been getting on landlines and cellphones alike.
It claims - in a computer generated voice - that your Gate City debit MasterCard has been locked and you should press one to unlock it.
If you press one, you are asked for your card number.
Minot Gate City Manager Peggy Johnson says the office started getting calls about the scam late yesterday and by mid-day today, workers had fielded over 400 calls from people wondering about the scam.
She stressed that you should simply hang up on such a call - and never release information about your credit card in an unsolicited phone call.
You are asked to call the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-382-4357 to file an official complaint.
The second scam comes from the town of Surrey where police say someone has been offering to rent a house in Surrey.
The problem is that the house is not for rent - but for sale.
The scammer says you can rent the house for 550 dollars if you send a deposit to an address in Africa.
Surrey Police Chief Pete Schneider reminds you to always check carefully into a rental offer before putting down any money.
What an interesting day that was, I was trying to enjoy teriyaki chicken and breaded shrimp when a burly man comes and says "hey you gotta leave there's a bomb no jokes"
Then later I went somewhere else to shop and a weird number calls me asking for my Gate City Bank pin. I don't even use them :|
And it's weird, you'd never really except something like this to happen in North Dakota, since most people forget we're even a state.
Is that all he said, because I imagine it to be extremely casual like "yeah, there's a bomb, you should probably get out of here"

Yeah, then some guy with an AR-15 said I couldn't go back to the lot to get my car so I snuck around heHEHHEH

but what if he thought YOU were the bomber
[editline]4th December 2012[/editline]
Also yes I frequently forget that ND is a state tbh
but what if he thought YOU were the bomber
I'm white as hell, and people said that the bomber was African American with C4 strapped to him and an AK47, which I slightly doubt but whatever.

But from what i've seen of you that describes you perfectly
This is odd, especially for Minot.
Nothing major happened when I lived there. From what I can remember, anyways.
