• can't find a program that can detect my fan

So I've been having severe overheating problems with my laptop for a while now. I've tried every solution possible without any positive results. I've narrowed down the problem to the fan, which might be the cause, since it's the only thing which speed I haven't been able to monitor. Programs I've tried: speedfan HWmonitor CPUID HWmonitor open hardware monitor I've also updated the bios and checked for any fan related options or screens. There are absolutely none. The only option is "fan silent mode", which doesn't change a thing. any other programs that could actually work? my computer is a P580 samsung laptop, win7 home, m480 intel i5, geforce gt 330m
Did you blow out the dust yet? Or even open it and replace the thermal paste?
Did you blow out the dust yet? Or even open it and replace the thermal paste?
I did all that jazz and more, but at the moment I'm trying to check my fan but apparently no program I can find is able to detect it.
Can you feel any air coming out the vent? There's a chance it is stuck, could be caused by dust jamming it or the fan is just seized and needs replacing.
Pepper;49400701']Can you feel any air coming out the vent? Trouble is that I've tried every solution, and every thread I've opened about this issue has narrowed down to "is the fan working right?" and "have you checked the fan speed?" so that's what I'm trying to check.
When you say it overheats, what kinda temperatures are we looking at? Laptops naturally run quite hot anyway, nowhere near as cool as a desktop.

On idle it's around 40-50. Didn't use to do this in the past, so it's not the pc that isn't capable. here's a thread of mine from a while ago regarding this issue: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1259818&highlight= I opened this thread because I'm specifically searching for a way to check my fan's speed
Does the fan ramp right up when the temperature rises? And is the air coming out hot?

Are you sure you replaced the thermal paste?
You usually cannot control or even read out the fan on laptops. Are you sure you replaced the thermal paste?
Ok I didn't know that. Then I guess I'll just have to replace it and hope it was the problem. Yes, with the help of an IT technician, didn't change anything at all.
Pepper;49402404']Does the fan ramp right up when the temperature rises? Sounds like the heat sink isn't on properly. It should be almost burning hot at those temperatures. Have you tightened the heat sink screws evenly? Did you clear off the old paste first before re-applying?

Seemed fine, and so did the screwing back. I might double check it tomorrow though, so I'm super sure.
