Holy Christ do they think their readers cant use google as thus must shove it down their throats in article format? Now that I think of it, its just the writers being trash during a slow week. Hmm.

RAID 1 is a terrible backup solution, the point is to keep a machine running in the event of a drive failure which has little use for a home PC. All of that corrupted or lost data is just going to be replicated to the other disk. You should be taking images of the drive and storing them on another high capacity one.
