[release] PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia school officials have signed a 30-month civil rights pact with the Justice Department to address anti-Asian violence at a troubled high school. The School Reform Commission, the city school district's governing body, agreed to both state and federal oversight in a vote Wednesday. Asian advocates say the federal consent decree will hold South Philadelphia High School officials responsible for keeping students safe from racial and ethnic violence. About 22 percent of the students are Asian, some of them new immigrants. About 30 Asian students were injured last year in racially motivated attacks by other students. The assaults prompted boycotts by Asian students and the state and federal investigations.
Wait what. Read the goddamn article. Anti-violence is good.
I think he was pointing at the fact that the schools have to sign the pact in the first place. If there was no violence, then this would never be needed.
There is no violence here. :canada:
At least it's still always sunny.
What the hell is it with racism? Just get the fuck over it, already!
I Love how this only NOW got resolved. The student's originally walked out last January.
At least this got solved the proper way.
Anti-asian violence? In Philadelphia? What the hell?
Anti-asian violence? In Philadelphia? What the hell?
Would you rather have Pro-Asian violence?
Would you rather have Pro-Asian violence?
:colbert: No it's just something that seems ridiculously outdated. I can grasp contemporary acts against Hispanic people, but against Asians? And it doesn't even just say Chinese, it's asians as a whole. Wtf.
Anti-asian violence? In Philadelphia? What the hell?
Obviously you don't live in Philadelphia.
Obviously you don't live in Philadelphia.
No I obviously do not. Please explain.

Philadelphia, like many other old and dilapidated major cities, is full of old problems. Racism is still rampant and plentiful. It doesn't matter what race you are.

[editline]15th December 2010[/editline] That reminds me of a field trip not long ago where we went to a school in Philadelphia to help them with the children. It was very surprising how racist the kids were, and, not to offend anyone, most of them were black. There were a couple of good kids there but this one kid kept calling me whitey and cracker. That was awkward. As a side note, I was helping 1st graders at the time when this happened.
Yeah that's how it is here, it's more of a prolonged awkward bus ride type of feeling. You can notice the tension but most people don't care enough to actually confront someone else. But yeah, most little kids are complete dicks, do you know which school it was?
Wait what. Read the goddamn article. Anti-violence is good.
I think I can read better than you. How on earth did you take that to mean I think violence is good?
