2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games abbreviated as YOG. Also known as 2010 Singapore Youth Olympics Games. What is it all about: Technically this is the first game of the summer. It's a major sports event much like the Olympic games except it is competed by athletes between 14 and 18 years old hence the word, Youth Olympics. Like the paralympics and Winter Olympics. Where will it be held This year the games will be held in Singapore. For those of you who don't know where Singapore is, it is an island in South East Asia. It is located below the peninsula of Mainland Malaysia but above Indonesia. The island of Singapore An old photo of Singapore probably from the year 2000 When is the event? The Games will start on 14 of August 2010 and ends in 26 August There will be 205 countries competing in the games. There are about 5,000 athletes who will compete in 26 sport events. I am quite sure United Kingdom and USA are in the games mind you. The Mascots of YOG, Lyo and Merly. Will you be cheering for your country in the games? Hopefully yes. If your nation is not in the games, don't fret about it, There is always the 2012 London Olympics.
I'm in singapore and the torch lighter ran outside my house yesterday :v:
So was the guy followed by the mob? I mean the media
Not really, there was some people follwing him though
I just know the internet will turn this into something brilliant
What's with the furry mascots? :sigh:
If anyone is interested, the opening ceremony is HAPPENING now. I think you may watch it live at http://www.youtholympicgames.org/
Rule 34 on the mascots? Wait never mind do not want
These games are gonna be fail for sure. Moscow should've won the bid.
What's with the furry mascots? :sigh:
I think its a requirement to have bad mascots for any Olympic event. I mean just look at these horrible things http://www.london2012.com/mascots
These games are gonna be fail for sure. Moscow should've won the bid.
I agree. The country didn't even build a stadium for this, let alone an Olympic village. They used a school campus.
I agree. The country didn't even build a stadium for this, let alone an Olympic village. They used a school campus.
The power of compromise. We only got one year to prepare.
That is sooo easily going to be Rule34'ed it's not even funny. Give it a day.
go indonesia
An old photo of Singapore probably from the year 2000
Even if you said this was a very updated picture, no one would have cared to notice. I doubt the city has changed that much, at least not that part.
Even if you said this was a very updated picture, no one would have cared to notice. I doubt the city has changed that much, at least not that part.
I guess so. But if you lived or been here recently, you will see that there four new buildings located to the left of where they are suppose to stand. Plus even if Russia did won the bid for the YOG, they won't be much of a difference. Except this thread would probably be made by a Russian FPer who would have be proud to have their country hosting this event.
I'm from Singapore too. To ignhelper: The national stadium here is getting torn down and the new one will only be completed by 2014. Also, the budget for this got blown, went over 350m I believe.
They have the dolls of Lyo and Merly on sale since June
hey bcell while you're here hows fasting going
Youth Olympics are underated.
Things are going fine. The YOG does fall in the middle of the muslim fasting month. But at least the YOG fare better than the last years Asian Youth Games
YOG is shit, Singapore lost to Germany and another african nation. In basketball. I guess they will be using foreign talent for the next olympic games. Is there anywhere you can watch this? I'm interested in this since my cousins friend is in it.
Meh, afaik Moscow was prepared 2 years in advance. Singapore is such a small shit country that has to use schools instead of real stadiums. And I'm from Singapore as well. I hate my country.
Time to re-fill on lotion and kleenex.
I was supposed to be in the youth olympics this year for the 400 meter hurdles but I injured my hamstring badly a month ago and had to take a break from training.

Also, BCell, I don't know if anyone has told you this. But all your attempts at making threads have been very poor. [editline]12:51PM[/editline]
Hasn't changed one bit. Still the same, only for a few new buildings on the left which are hotels and casinos.
You have no any idea how many new developments have been popping up around there. [editline]12:51PM[/editline]
Things are going fine. The YOG does fall in the middle of the muslim fasting month. But at least the YOG fare better than the last years Asian Youth Games
Who cares about the fasting?

[editline]12:51PM[/editline] Who cares about the fasting?
As I mentioned earlier I am from Singapore and I am aware of the new developments here. Even so, these development are rather useless and Singapore is wasting money trying to get tourists to come here. Seriously, how long has it taken for Singapore to build casinos with ridiculous entry fees? [editline]12:58PM[/editline] Singapore is just a small-ass country trying to get attention.
