he misspoke and he apoligizes
Wait, did he misspeak? Or is he apologizing? I can't figure out his double speak.
Best NPC ever.
He's really just trying to get this asshole who's been harassing him repeatedly to leave him alone, so he's sticking to his story and not answering questions. I don't see what he should have done otherwise, honestly it seems like this show is grasping at straws.

[editline]1st June 2012[/editline] I wonder which one is the asshole; the reporter paid to bring news to people, especially the news that one of their elected officials is a racist idiot or the racist idiot.

What you call "proper journalism", could be construed as relentless badgering, since he just does not want to answer his questions and he did receive (but decline) the opportunity to be interviewed on other occasions. He was going somewhere, you know to do his job, and simply stuck to his story to get the ambush interview out of the way as soon as possible. The reporter is paid to report on news, not to create it. The news story here is "This congressman retracted his previous racist statement to appeal to moderate voters", and that can be done without harassment, or at least not the publishing of said harassment on a tv show which does nothing to discredit the man unless you put in the cometary of "lol this guy is an idiot". Seriously, at that particular moment I can't think of a better thing for him to do aside from just ignoring the reporter, which would probably would be harder to do considering the persistence of said reporter. I am a staunch liberal, but just because I don't agree with the senator does not mean that the reporter using FOX news tactics is justified.

It doesn't seem like it should be what it is; It looks like it's about trapping politicans, when it should be being there for them to help them spread their ideas. Questions need to be asked though, and they are legitimate when they're being asked during a time where the politician, such as during interviews, meetings, on TV shows...It's just not very moral to follow somebody around just to bug them with questions when they are working. As much as this guy could be an asshole or could have made racist statements, journalists, and especially this one, should question themselve, he isn't any better than him right now really.

I don't give one shit about your political affiliations. This isn't about left right politics this is about the truth and about journalism. This guy said something horrible, and today's media doesn't hold their feet to the fire when it happens. "FOX news tactics"? Are you joking? Fox News Tactics is them sitting in a room tearing apart people based on strawman and ad hominem. This guy saw something wrong in his community and chased after the story. He tried to set up interviews but it was clear he was dodging them. That's called doing your job and asking the tough questions. Now this local reports neighbors know just how much of an idiot this person is. He says horribly racist things about the sitting president, he evades all responsibility, and when someone catches up to him he so plainly struggles to remember what his advisors tell him. You see where he is about to say something that he came up with himself, then remembered that other people are doing politics for him behind the scenes? You want that to be covered up? You don't want to know that this guy is so inempt that he can't come up with his own responses? He didn't do it to discredit the man, he did it to get answers, he did it to get a response. No one called him an idiot in the original story. He did that all on his own. [QUOTE=Onirik;36164837]I agree completely, I've always hated how journalism is done ever since the 50's. Did you even watch the video? He turned down interviews and meetings. His staff was rejecting all communication. So he caught up with the guy and asked him a few questions. The politician in question could have walked away saying he wasn't interested but he sits there repeating his dumb apology that his political advisors came up with over and over. Hell, if you notice, they actually take a walk over to the side of the building he was going into to talk anyway.
what is there to argue about here? relentless badgering? the news reporter was asking questions and doing his job, even going so far as to alter them FIVE times in an attempt to bear with the congressman's stupidity and somehow you manage to think he is the one in the wrong?

He is parroting what some advisor told him to parrot, in response to every question asked on the subject. If you have absolutely no standards for the people you elect to represent you then that's okay with me, but don't expect everyone else to agree.

Journalist asks a politician five questions as they walk around in public somewhere, barely takes a minute out of his time and lets him go after the guy gives the same stupid answer to each question "omg relentless badgering"
