My friend Jacko volunteered at a hypnosis show, when he got up the host did a few funny things with them, and then he told them all they were getting a headjob, which was just a 'meh' kind of funny as they all had their hands on the nonexistent persons head and thrusting their hips etc, until Jacko shocked the audience when at the end of it.. he thanks his imaginary girl, simulating an appreciative punch to the head. The OP made me annoyed. Hypnosis is nothing like that, not only was he faking it, but hypnosis shows are vaudeville acts that trick people out of their money for a warped and incorrect perception of something they know nothing about.

Hypnosis doesn't work if the subject doesn't want it. I guess you could call it placebo.

Personally I think your friend jacko is going to be in jail a couple times in his life from domestic abuse. This is also a very perverse thing to do for a high school... too much sexual innuendo; even though this was probably staged. Still, pretty gay.

Your friend was faking, hypnosis like that is entirely fake and proven fake. Call him a tool for playing along

If you're open to it, it works, it's like messing with the programmes for a computer but the computer is self aware and stops anything fundamental to it's operation being broken or altered. It also allows to implant triggers into people and when you say a certain phrase you can make them slap themselves :v:

I'm pretty sure hypnotism is real. I have gone to a few of those shows myself and my dad volunteered on two different shows. I saw him do stuff that he would not do like being shit scared of a noise they played and even at one point crying on command and stopping too. I tried it myself and I am usually one of the most shy people and I was dancing like I was in a ballet and conducted a fake orchestra. I was skeptical at first but after seeing it work on myself and others I can't deny it.

Placebos work, but does that mean its a viable use for medicine?

Stage hypnosis relies entirely on the the hypnotee voluntarily going along with the act. It's not a magical case of mental domination, the hypnotist just builds trust and acts friendly. You follow along because you don't want to disappoint him or make him look bad, and because it's kind of fun, but you never actually lose control of your actions.

My school had a stage hypnosis thing, and you could tell some people were faking it, but the few who actually looked like they might be hypnotized said they knew nothing was actually happening, but they still did it anyway. Kinda like "That's not Tom Hanks, but I think I will still go up and ask for his autograph because I was told it is him"
