Tell us what you thought about the movie you just finished watching. Stupid people need not apply.
Example
Django Unchained - 8.5/10
A really badass western movie, Quentin Tarantino still does it. I just didn't seem to like how [sp] Django kills the white bitch [/sp] (this is just a example, my true rating is 9.5/10)
A bad example
Leprechaun - 10/10
The best horror film I've ever watched, this is way better shit than The Shining. This should win Best Picture with Jennifer Aniston getting Best Actress and Warwick Davis getting Best Actor

I don't see anything wrong with this.
Cruel Intentions
After hearing someone describe this as "The closest thing to porn on Netflix" I thought it wouldn't have been such a bad idea to sit through it on a boring monday night.
I should have gone directly to sleep.
It's basically a 90 minute Gossip Girl episode (which is worse than any actual Gossip Girl episode, go figure) about the love affairs of these narcissistic uptight rich douchebags that you can't help but wish to walk in the movie and kick their teeth in. Nobody that appears on screen is likeable, not even the protagonist. There is no real sense of emapthy or sorrow towards anyone, so you don't really care about anything that happens when the "twists" start kicking in.
I also find it hard to categorize this movie; it presents itself as a sort of drama-thriller, but often you get cringe-worthy jokes thrown at your face that completely kill the atmosphere. The dialogue is definetly the worst I've witnessed in years: the actors are for the most part terrible and deliver laughable and cheesy lines a good number of times per scene.
Some odd choices have also been made regarding the music, often you have to put up with annoying background elevator tunes that flat out ruin the mood and dont fit the scene at all.
Ok, maybe I'm nit picking too much, so how is the story? Well, I would say it's no better or worse than any other mediocre romance thriller. What makes it bad though is how cheesy and unrealistic everything is. The way people act and react to one another is completely unnatural, everyones' answers feel so forced and already prepared, as if it was a script. oh, wait...
The "world" presented in this movie, and how things work, is so fake and far from reality that I'd be surprised if the writer has ever been in a relationship in his entire life.
The ending...eh...it's ok in the context of this film alone and it's probably the least-worse part of it all, but it's not worth sitting through it.
Overall... terrible movie. I don't know how I managed to finish it without falling to sleep, maybe I was amused at how uniquely bad it was. And a part from checking out the few porny shots of Sarah Michelle Gellar, there is no reason I would recommend anyone to watch it.
And no, apparently it's not the closest thing to porn on Netflix since I didn't even see a nipple.
What are some of the best documentaries about particular areas/countries/cities around the world?I've seen Wild pacific 2009 and i gotta admit it was pretty cool, id like to see more like this, and maybe something focused on the urban life of countries.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=4DNYGuoHkHU
Well this isn't focused on urban life in the least, but it's the most recent documentary I've seen that was pretty fucking good.
It takes us to the aftermath of the brutal Civil War in Sierra Leone and shows us an organic grassroots process through which a broken country is attempting to heal its wounds.
First Season of Twin Peaks - 9/10
I watched "Stand Up Guys", it was simply really nice, no other way to describe it, everything about it was just "nice". I just spent a lot of the time watching the movie smiling, I guess that's what you could call a "feel-good movie".

I like that the villains are child-killing neo-nazis. you don't see that too often in a movie for babbies.
i think if they prominently showed the neo-nazis on the poster and trailers and stuff, more people would probably go see it.

[editline]10th April 2013[/editline]
yeah it's rated pg-13 but more babbies would see it than older people
Stake Land 9/10
First time I have ever heard of Nick Damici and holy shit did he play his role well, good vampire film.
Saw Danny Boyle's Trance today.
I don't even know, I need to watch it again. My gut reaction is a 7/10
Dredd
that was WAY better than i expected. i'm thoroughly impressed. my mom liked it too, which i was suprised to see.
also that girl's super hot

The first two were better imo, but still really nice. 7.5/10
War of the Worlds Alive on Stage - 3/10
Probably the worst cinema experience I've had in a while.
Jurassic Park
Fucking 10.
This is the perfect movie and I dare you to disagree with me. Watching it in the cinema was an absolute joy. Can't speak for the quality of the 3D as I can't stand 3D and saw it in good old fashioned 2D.
One more thing I never realized, but my friend noticed and pointed out to me: [sp]In the beginning helicopter ride when Alan couldn't fasten his seat belt, he had two female belt buckles and ended up making them work by tying them together.[/sp] Now THAT is foreshadowing.
Also obligatory.

I too saw Trance, my reaction is 4/10.
This is a movie with a mostly straightforward plot, but with way too many "twists" thrown in to make it seem clever. The plot without the twists would be mediocre at best, but what they've done with it just seems to confuse most people, and sometimes it doesn't even make sense.
Would have been 3/10 but [sp]at one point a dude gets shot in the dick[/sp]
Jurassic Park

This is the perfect movie and I dare you to disagree with me..
My favorite film of all time, I don't care about the acting, flaws. I just....love the movie so much
Fast five
They actually got brazil kinda right. I mean, in most movies, the brazilians speak shit portuguese, or sometimes even spanish. Most of the time they're not even close I being Brazilian either, and sometimes even the brazil they show is not brazil. However, this movie actually gets most of the stuff right: they got a few good Brazilian actors, stuff isn't over exaggerated (ok kind of), and they actually speak using slang rather than the perfect portuguese people use when they just learned the language. Not all perfect but it's a better brazil than I've seen in any other american movie.
This stuff probably doesn't matter to anyone that's not Brazilian though, so anyway, the movie. Everything is as you'd expect: over the top scenes all around, meh acting and not the greatest, most creative plot, but it's really great mindless action, and better than most other fast and furious movies. If you know what to expect from a illegal racing movie with the rock and vin diesel, it's exactly what you get.
Also why does the rock sweat so much in this movie
Moonrise Kingdom.
9.5/10
I love all of Wes Anderson's films and this movie is no exception to that. The boy is such a boss, he gets the girl so easily right from the start. Although there is one thing that felt very awkward during the movie, which is [sp]the scene where they kiss and he gropes her. It's still a really good scene though, just very strange since I'm 20 now and the kids are like 12-14.[/sp] But as usual, Wes's style with his movies is great on the eyes, this movie seems to have more symmetrical shots than his other movies, which is pretty cool. Plus the acting is great as usual. I definitely recommend you guys to check out this movie.
Evil Dead 7/10
My friends dragged me out to see it, I saw the original so I decided to see it. I thought it would be awful, but it came out kind of neat actually. Captured the kind of B movie feel the original had for me,
and it was a lot of fun to watch with a fun audience. [sp]Bruce Campell saying Groovy at the end after the credits got me so damn good, I shouted OH FUCK YES so loudly :v: [/sp]
Sleepwalk with Me
9/10
Great indie flick. Really charming and sincere; a lot of indie films try too hard to seem genuine but it almost always ends up being saturated and saccharine, but I found myself really drawn to this movie and actually caring about the characters. Plus they did a great job in avoiding the whole MPDG trope with the wife, so props to that too!
Watch this if you want something light, funny, and sweet!
Watched Funny Games. I don't usually watch horror movies because they make me uncomfortable so i totally get the message this movie was sending. I was sort of forced to watch it to the end but if i was on my own i probably would have stopped quite early on, it made me feel pretty sick and disgusted and such.
I don't know... 7.8/10 because it had the effect it wanted to have but that doesn't change the fact that it was a horrible experience.
Then a bit later i watched the road which i really enjoyed. Good post-apocalyptic movie, it was great how all of us watching were so amazed and happy when they found that bunker full of food. The ending was a bit overly happy, could have probably finished it just as the kid met guy pearses character so then you aren't sure if they are good or bad.
8.5/10
The Rum Diary - 8/10
Another movie starring Johnny Depp based on Hunter S. Thompson's life, being a big fan of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I decided to read the book and then check out the film.
The movie diverged a lot from the book, and i felt lost at times even though the book had me super hooked the whole way through. Was in no regards bad though, was a fun romp through Puerto Rico filled with crime, drinking, and awesome voices.
Not quite Fear and Loathing tier, but good in its own respects. I suggest it to anyone who liked Fear and Loathing, but read the book first. You get so much more out of it after.
Side Effects - 8.5/10
combine Contagion with Girl with a dragon tattoo with the music of thomas newman and you get this beautiful mysterious piece of film
would watch again and def recommended

I didn't read the book, and personally, I thought this movie was kinda bad. It's a meh movie IMO, the only reason it's worth watching is because it has its moments (that car scene, oh god haha)
[editline]12th April 2013[/editline]
Maybe all the boring scenes that seemed kinda unnecessary were actually important in the book?
Also one thing I don't get, they take [sp]that super strong drug, and they're only hallucinating for one short scene?[/sp] does the same happen in the book or does it actually last longer?

funny thing is, i dont think that scene was even in the book! like i said, it diverges a lot. There's a character who's basically this big brute called Yeoman in the book who is actually who Chenault is dating and whatnot, and he serves as the 3rd man in Sala/Kemp's little posse. The fact that he's removed from the movie really hurts it and a lot of scenes in the film make a lot less sense without him
like instead of [sp]sala and kemp driving off and blowing fire[/sp], Yeoman [/sp]tells the shop owner to fuck off, he'll pay off his bills later and ends up getting into a fight with the people there and the cops[/sp].
I feel like Sanderson's character was severely reduced in the film because he's now with Chenault, and that means that eventually he's going to [sp]hate Kemp for taking her away from him[/sp]. In the book he was just a smooth operator with a mind for business.
also there's a lot more sex in the book
READ THE BOOK YO
[editline]12th April 2013[/editline]
I really like Moeburg in the movie though, in the book he's basically non-existent except for the scene in the courthouse, but in the movie he actually interacts with Sala and Kemp and gets them shit.
also i couldn't stop laughing at the car scene
Just went to see Oblivion.
9/10
This movie is not for everyone, as one of the reviews said, it's quite slow and ponderous. But if you like your sci-fi and/or technology porn, you will LOVE this. Don't get me wrong, it's very interesting too, lots of good twists, but it looks and sounds absolutely marvellous.
It has a very interesting style of pacing - rather than most films (especially action), which start off fairly slow, speed up quickly, slow down slightly, speed up further, slow down again, etc until a climax; Oblivion is sort of like a sine-wave. You get the normal speed up, plenty of action scenes, and then it slows down a lot, as in to a similar pace as the start of the film. Then another speed up, and slowing down. It might not be for everyone though. I can understand people criticising that as bad pacing, but I disagree - it's different, but I think it's effective because the film doesn't start to lose itself in the action as it goes on, instead mixing exposition and action well throughout.
Very enjoyable, highly recommend.

I just saw that in the Imax in Sydney.

Oblivion
7,5/10
Actually I was quite surprised by this movie, the trailer looked promising but it looked like it would be a typical action flick. Anyway I am quite happy that I watched the movie at the cinema. The movie itself has such a great setting, I really like the science-fiction and all the technology that was shown. The pictures were really impressive, usually I am not a big fan of CGI effects but the movie did really well. Especially those drones were really amazing. The whole universe was intriguing. The plot itself had some really unexpected twists and it turned out quite interesting. As a whole I am satisfied with the story although there are some logical flaws and things that were not clearly explained. Also they could have done a better job with the character developement and introduce them at a slower pace. Jack himself is a convincing character and Vicka was also really good. But his wifes and the scavs were not shown that much. It could be more in-depth.
Anyway I recommend this movie a lot.
Does Cruise do his jockboy Cruise thing?
