“Ps I'm hosting an event in Harlem which will be in front of the state building in a few weeks. We will [donate] Kool Aid, KFC and watermelons to the public on 125th street in Harlem. Please join us to help the community,” he wrote.
Girodes, who is making his second run for the 30th District senate seat and headlined his campaign website with an image of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said there was nothing offensive about his planned event.
“What I think is anyone who gives free food to people is doing them a favor,” Girodes told the I-Team. “Get a bunch of people who say it’s offensive and let me go into their neighborhood and give it out for free and see if they take it.”
how is it even possible to be this stupid
And what would them taking it prove?
If he did this in Castle Rock, CO people would still take it.
Still ain't gonna vote for him.
I would go to that event. KFC, Kool-Aid, and watermelon are great independent of race.

Politician
On one hand, this is Onion article level reality leaking stupid and racist.
On the other hand, KFC, Kool Aid, and Watermelon are fucking delicious.
This is cheap sitcom level of stupid, holy shit.
This is some always sunny in philly tier hilarious shit
how fucking short on braincells do you need to be to not see how blatantly stereotypical this is
how is it even possible to be this stupid
Republican.
MLK day dinner on the ship was Fried Chicken and waffles with Watermelons on the side bar, fucking delicious.
but what about the vegens
how will the vegens survive with just melons of water :(
Imagine if he's actually just being well-intentioned. It's so hilariously misguided.

Exactly, your post is one of the best arguments I've ever seen for it :^)
... ratings here should either be agree or disagree. No need for dumb.
why the heck are you even allowed to do this
somebody running for election giving a bunch of free shit out to a crowd immediately before voting will fuck with the results a lot

How is this racist unless you make it racist?
Is serving free steak and eggs in a red barn while wearing straw hats racist because its 'white people food' in a 'white people setting' stereotypically? its obviously helping people with a funny spin, have a laugh about it sure since thats the point, bringing people together and enjoying life while doing good.
there is nothing inherently bad about free kfc, free kool aid, or free watermelon.

It's... pretty racist. But hey, if it works, it works.

Nothing he says or does in the interview implies he is self aware of the message it sends. And if it's not a problem like you say why is the community outraged?
what?
dumb needs to be a rating in sh
Yeah i dont know if you want to be the one arguing that.
On the one hand, this is horrendously misguided at best and incredibly racist at worst.
On the other hand, KFC and Kool-Aid? I can think of worse ways to snack...

If you were being any more obtuse, you'd be a circle.
How is this racist unless you make it racist?
Because it was already racist and has been for centuries. Watermelon is from Africa, and black people were stereotyped as simpletons who were happy as long as they had their watermelons. Chickens were the only animals slaves were allowed to raise, so chicken was a very common food for them and became a stereotype.

And Kool-Aid... something something Jonestown?
[EDITLINE]gg[/EDITLINE]
Not disagreeing btw, I legit wonder where Kool-Aid being related with african-americans comes from.
He might as well hand out 40s, play rap music, and wear oversized clothing to the event and show up in an integra on 24s
