Source.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte allegedly once shot dead a justice department agent with an Uzi submachine gun while serving as mayor of Davao. The allegation was made by Edgar Matobato, a self-confessed former death squad member, before a Senate inquiry on extra-judicial killings. Mr Duterte, he alleged, ordered him and others to kill about 1,000 criminals or political rivals over a 25-year period. A spokesman for Mr Duterte denied the allegations. Presidential spokesman Martin Andanar said investigations into the president's time as mayor had gone nowhere. Mr Matobato, 57, said he had been a member of the Davao Death Squad, a notorious vigilante group allegedly responsible for hundreds of killings. "Our job was to kill criminals like drug pushers, rapists, snatchers," he said. But he also said that Mr Duterte's opponents had been targeted too, including four bodyguards of a local rival for mayor, Prospero Nograles. In 1993, he said his group had injured a justice department agent after a confrontation at a road block. "Mayor Duterte was the one who finished him off," he said. "Jamisola [the justice department official] was still alive when he [Duterte] arrived. He emptied two Uzi magazines on him." Mosque attack Victims would be shot or strangled, he said, with some disembowelled and dumped into the sea so fish could eat them, or in one case fed to a crocodile. He told the Senate panel he had gone from a witness protection programme into hiding when Mr Duterte became president, fearing for his life. Mr Matobato also alleged Mr Duterte had ordered the bombing of a mosque in retaliation for an attack on Davao Cathedral in 1993.
Dear god. All I hope is that the people of the Philippines come out of this okay, because Duterte does not sound like the man you want at the head of a country in the slightest, especially in Asia.
If there's any proof, I'm certain he won't deny it and will in fact embrace it. That's his style.
Does he know where the bodies are buried? I know this sounds like Duterte, but it's a little too far-fetched for me to take at face value. I'd like hard evidence.
Yup, sounds like something Duterte would do. I guess this only makes it even more transparent - he's not afraid of putting his money where his mouth is.
Mr Matobato also alleged Mr Duterte had ordered the bombing of a mosque in retaliation for an attack on Davao Cathedral in 1993.
I wonder what Daesh thinks of this.
Buuh he's saving the cuntry.
Also, this source is incredibly biased against him. It's like they're talking about Charles Manson, not about a president.
Also, this source is incredibly biased against him. It's like they're talking about Charles Manson, not about a president.
Well, alleged extrajudicial assassinations do sound more like a serial killer than a president. In what way does the source seem biased, beyond reporting the facts? Not that I necessarily believe the article at face value- this former death squad member has incentive to shift blame from himself to Duterte. But it sounds like you're saying that because the article is reporting nasty stuff that Deterte has allegedly done, it's biased against him. That's not how that works.
I don't doubt that he would've done some of this stuff but you gotta remember that these are just allegations.
Duterte sounds 100% like a Far Cry villain.
Eh, just another unverified claim here. There's a lot of bullshit floating around about Duterte and while he does do some stupid stuff I don't think you should be so quick to jump on him with bs like this.
He runs the country like a drug lord would run a cartel. Literally an eye for an eye. I believe he's even said that. The guy is pretty much a thug.
He is still enjoying record high popularity ratings.

This guy sounds like a fucking James Bond villain got elected president. Jesus.
I'm not surprised by this, and you shouldn't be surprised either. Duterte really likes to kill criminals.
In early September 2015, an infamous incident was reported of a tourist being forced to swallow his own cigarette butt in a local bar in Davao City after the tourist refused to comply with the public anti-smoking ordinance of the city.
He is still enjoying record high popularity ratings.
From what I've heard, he's meant to be better than the guys he ran against and that in certain aspects he's fairly progressive. That being said, this guy sounds like a complete fucking nutjob who probably isn't the kinda guy I'll want anywhere near power. It's sad that the Filipinos feel like this man is their only hope of making the country better.

Duterte's fucking scum without a doubt and him getting elected shows the sad state the country is in. The Philippines has some beautiful places and great people, but I don't know if it'll ever advance past being a third world country with how terribly its been run. It sucks the country is only in the news now because of this asshole.

President Rodrigo "Little Nuke" Duterte
Eh, as much as I despise the president, this guy's full of shit.
This guy sounds like a fucking James Bond villain got elected president. Jesus.
Putin, Kim, Duterte. Maybe James Bond wasn't that far off of reality.
More people in the States really need to know about this shit going on. If I mentioned Duterte most people probably wouldn't even know who he is over here. Really want a shirt or something that says "Fuck Duterte" so people will actually either ask or look up who he is.

Hire John Dwayne/Rambo to play as him, in the style of Walking Tall.
