Grand Theft Auto V Xbox 360 Install Corrupt, Bad Disc more info inside

I bought GTA V for Xbox 360 from some guy off craigslist today, I only checked the install disc for some reason thinking the odds were pretty low. And what do ya know....the "Play" disc is scratched up a bit.
So I gave it a shot anyways, and the "Install" disc was fine so I thought maybe if I install it, it wont require the data on the disc
Obviously that didn't work and after the game finished installing and asked me to "insert play disc", it would freeze during the loading screen.
If I restarted the console, and tried to "play" again, it would tell me the data is corrupt and I'd need to reinstall the entire thing again
Now tomorrow I am going to get the disc repaired for $4 but I'm not sure if I should repair the "install" disc too? It seems perfectly clean to me but the "corrupt files" message that shows up even after it finished the install doesn't convince me.
Do you think that by inserting the "Play" disc after the installation and having it freeze would cause the files to corrupt anyways? Like if the "Play Disc" is required to "finish" the installation?
Can someone provide more insight to this? Do you think the "Install" disc is fine and the "Play" disc is just making the files corrupt after I've installed it?
I had the "freeze during load screen" issue. Try starting the game using the Install disc, then switch to the Play disc when told to.

That just tells me the "data is corrupt" and starts re-installing it from the beginning.
I noticed the file size was 5.7 GB, is that normal?
I had a friend of mine where he couldn't play the game after he installed. He borrowed my install disc instead and tried that, and after that it worked just fine. His install disc was obviously corrupted. Got nobody you can borrow the install disc from?
I believe that a bad Play DVD could corrupt the install data, it's likely that a small amount of data is installed from the Play DVD.
I would start by checking out the top layer of both DVDs, to see if those have any scratches. Scratches on the top are not repairable, since that physically removes data.
If the tops check out, repairing the Play disc should resolve the install issue.

So I went out today and got the Play disc repaired, however the guy noted that there were three smaller scratches that could not be resurfaced.
Anyways, I went home and it froze again which leads me to believe those scratches are causing this.
But your comment about the Play disc causing the corruption gives me a little hope.
I'm wondering if I should attempt to re-surface it again.

Argh and now this raises another question, is this disc really unrepairable? There's no scratches on the top and the scratches I see on the bottom are minor.
The dude at the store insisted it wouldn't fix the scratches if he re-surfaced again.
Wtf? All this crap over a freaking craigslist deal
