• The Situation In Haiti - Your Thoughts

So basically, you all know of the big earthquake in Haiti that just happened. If you've seen the news, you've seen the pictures of the bodies in the streets. You might have also seen all the gangs with machetes. My view on this is that this would be a near-replica of Somalia back in 92-93. A very poor country is devastated due to something and food and basic nececcities becomes scarce. Certain figures rise up and create groups of people who steal food for themselves. In Somalia, there were tons of UN people. It's the same in Haiti. I think that sometime soon, food will be stolen by warlords and violence will be everywhere in the country. What are your thoughts about this?
Haiti and Somalia have very different histories. I think Haiti will recover faster, and the troops sent over will help keep peace.
It's annoying because it's all the news talks about.
It's probably going to be one massive power vacuum. They're poor, hungry, and have nothing left. It's obvious to see where this will go.
I went to Haiti when I was little, everyone smelled bad.

My mom thinks it happened in france. what the fuck.
Haiti was like this way before the earthquake came. I have a house in Santo Domingo, and visit sometimes. The social and economic situation is terrible, it's a shame they just got hold of it now.
God was angered by Voodoo.
I think God is pissed at them or something. Earthquakes hit China: Buddhist statues, government buildings, landmarks, and etc. is stayed intact or partially damaged. Earthquake hit Haiti: Presidential Building, National Assembly, schools, cathedral, and UN building crumbles and destroys itself immediately.
The "before" and "after" pictures of Haiti look the same... ;)

Apparently, this is the chance to rebuild Haiti's infrastructure and start new w/o corruption and try to have a more successful country.
Apparently, this is the chance to rebuild Haiti's infrastructure and start new w/o corruption and try to have a more successful country.
How would an earthquake prevent corruption?
Apparently, this is the chance to rebuild Haiti's infrastructure and start new w/o corruption and try to have a more successful country.
There's always corruption. It never dies.
Apparently the US of A is sending two thousand Marines. Time for me to write a letter to Harper pressuring him to send the boys and girls in DART (Disaster Assistance and Response Team)
It's terrible really, most people were stuck there because they couldn't afford to leave, and now everything they worked for is dead and destroyed under a giant mess of concrete. No one innocent like them deserves this.
i dont really care
Anyone actually know where Haiti is? I've tried calling it, but I think it's set to vibrate.

I don't live in Haiti so i don't care. :patriot:
Apparently, this is the chance to rebuild Haiti's infrastructure and start new w/o corruption and try to have a more successful country.
You really don't understand the kind of situation Haiti is in. The average person lives on half of a dried out shitty cob of corn a day. Haiti will need at least a century to be in any kind of shape. The DR fucks them over by leaving them with all the shitty land on their island (as in you can't grow anything on it), and dictators through the 20th century have royally screwed the entire country. They can't get leave because they have no money, and nations wouldn't accept them anyway because they have so many diseases. Not to mention foreign aid has done about zero good (we didn't learn from Somalia??). In short, Haiti is pretty much fucked for the long term. Their situation is incomprehensible.
Anyone actually know where Haiti is? I've tried calling it, but I think it's set to vibrate.
Did you leave a message?
i dont really care
One day when you get into some problem, no one will care too.
Did you leave a message?
I think we should stop making jokes. Let's wait for the dust to settle first ;)
Honestly, I don't give a shit.
And nothing of value was lost. Why do people care? It's a shit hole. It doesn't matter if some people die, they weren't important.
I feel for everyone who died there, it's really terrible. I have family who live on an island, I couldn't imagine what I would do if what happened in Haiti happened there.
It's a shit hole. It doesn't matter if some people die, they weren't important.
You sound like someone who lives in a bubble.
I hate to say it, but I can't seem to muster up any sympathy. The population needs culling anyway. Edit: Maybe the US will arrive to "save the day" and drink up all of their oil and not find any WMDs.
People who bash the US are starting to annoy me, It's not like we are there for any of their resources what-so-ever. It's the best thing to do as a country is to help another country no matter how poor they are or rich they are it's just the human thing to do is be courteous. Just like if something god forbid happened similiar to this in california other countries would send relief. Just because we make mistakes doesn't mean we don't have hearts, and no matter how much you think your own country won't send money and aid workers i can promise you they would.
And nothing of value was lost. Why do people care? It's a shit hole. It doesn't matter if some people die, they weren't important.
To you, asshole.
