My heart cant handle it!
im getting myself an owl as pet
They were all really adorable except Fumetta. Those eyes are fucking terrifying.
I want one as a pet now!!
It's funny and cute until it shits on your hand.
they look so fluffy with their plumage
I'm a falconer and you do not kiss the birds Jesus Christ, sorry to put a downer on it but the way they were being stroked is wrong, and kissing an owl, wtf seriously!
I wonder how loyal an owl can be.
Not that loyal, really you just give them food and they will fly to you, it's basically that type of a relationship, what they were doing with hugging, and touching them that much, you're not supposed to do any of that at all, they're really bad falconers :/ I've been in multiple centres and been told by professionals to never do stuff like they are doing. Owls are strange, they don't show love for people they just stick around with the ones who feed them, it's a relationship based on survival.

But I love them ;3;
Fuckin' sexy little owls.
Nothing wrong with loving them haha, just they don't really love other people, they're kinda like, feed me! and then they do strange things.
2:35 -- Mass enjoyment.

So the owls just don't give a shit when someone pets them? Don't they sit still because they like it?

What sorts of strange things?

I'm no expert but the idea I'm getting from Tails is that they sit still cause they know they will feed them later.
They just tolerate it, they don't enjoy it, but yeah because you're the food provider they aren't going to hurt you unless you hurt them or annoy them enough, plus owls at flying weight turn really aggressive, it's only the ones at fat weight that really tolerate human contact.

Sounds like your average cat!
I love how with that new YouTube feature we've got an image of Syria burning as the upbeat music plays and a girl snuggles an owl just sort of sitting there in the bottom right corner.
Kinda jarring.

Pretty much cat like, but Talons really hurt when they get you :P

especially when you're a ladder!

That's a load of rubbish and while owls work in solitary similar to cats, birds do know how to show affection as they have flock instincts which is not to far of from a dogs pack instincts as far as affection goes the only difference is that what i think you meant to say is it's every bird for themselves and they don't work together but rather for themselves when competing, but when it's not a competition like when they're resting together then they show affection.
And a good proof of this is Parrots which are obviously extremely social and affectionate.
Those owls clearly see trust and affection to those humans just as my budgies will gladly trust me and climb onto my shoulders for no reason other than my own vanity.
Oh and you can pet Owls like that, birds preening each other will go against the direction of the feather without doing any damage.
And adding on too that is you base what you say on falcons, some birds of prey can be very solitary and some aren't.
Dont get owls. They shit in every possible crevice.
Dont
I like how the first minute or so of video has a link in the bottom right showing a beaten and bloodied victim in Syria while they're showing off all the cute owls

Budgies, Parrots, are different from Birds of Prey, I'm not trying to cause an argument but every centre I've worked at, the birds don't really form special bonds with people, they do take the odd preference, they have hates, I knew a bird that hated women. But you're not really supposed to stroke there feathers due to the protective oils, it's just what I've been taught, I'm no professional, but Birds of Prey and the imprinting is almost completely a survival relationship, they don't show love to anyone, they just behave if you train them properly and fly for you again with training, you can show them affection but it isn't like a dog showing any appreciation for it, it's kinda like whatever, when you gonna feed me.
That European Horned Owl looks like he is psyched as fuck 24/7.

So this is all a lie?

It's a trait in Little Owls they all do it, try that with a European Eagle owl it doesn't work so well, you usually get attacked, Yeah I learnt the hard way. I'm not trying to be a kill joy I'm not saying I'm an expert but other people have told me what I've learnt and they could be wrong.
it isn't like a dog showing any appreciation for it, it's kinda like whatever, when you gonna feed me.
you could say this about any animal though imo
even with dogs you could argue its just like 'eh, doing this gets me treats i think'
(i'm not saying that's correct but what is the difference?)
I would say dogs are a bit more playful than other animals like cats and hunter owls, whatever the reason may be.
It's also about where the Owl was born and how it lived. Compare a baby owl hand-fed for all his life by some little girls versus an owl straight from the wild with an on-going kill-count; which one is less likely to attack you when you want to get "affectionate" with it?
