Bergsala AB, commonly known as Nintendo's distributor in Sweden, was robbed somewhere between friday night and early monday morning. One or multiple offenders cut a hole in the fence surrounding the complex located in Kungsbacka, and then broke a wall in order to make their way into the main storage facility.
The goods consisted of over 4000 controllers, and over 1000 consoles, ranging from 3DS's to Wii-U's. However, Mario Kart 8 also seemed to be popular among the thieves. The loot is having an expected worth of about 20 million SEK (roughly 2,9 million USD), but Bergsala AB is currently conducting a complete inventory check as to get exact numbers.
The company's CEO, Örjan Öberg, had this to say;
"These are a lot of products, worth a lot of money, and it has to go somewhere. Seeing as we have such a wide view of European market, and lots of colleagues in different countries, while also taking into account that this industry has really thin marginals, you easily notice when things begin to smell fishy with things being sold for prices below the regular retail price." Wasn't me I was strolling through Stockholm all Sunday I swear.
I'd wager they'll get about a million for selling the stuff.. over some uncertain period of time.
Assuming they don't get caught of course.
Breaking news: Super smash bros. leaked online
If everything is done in batches I'm sure the distributors could track them down.
This sounds straight out of payday
They could host the sickest Mario Kart lan party with that loot.
Ah, so this is the day in history someone got blue shell'd so hard, he decides nobody else gets to play the game either, and steals all the available copies.
Coming soon to payday 2: The Nintendo heist.
Only $9.99 unless we get 3,000,000 members in our steam group!

How do you even sell all of these?
How do you even sell all of these?
The same way you'd sell anything else. Legal or illegally.
Oh man that fucking sucks. Hopefully they can track down the stolen goods and find the thieves.
Given that everything and it's mother has a serial number these days, and the moment a single console is linked into a Nintendo account/internet connection to play MP, probably. The controllers are gone though. That's a given.
Watch out guys, if you buy any WiiU keys and activate them on steam, you might get it removed from your library
Fuck, this is one of my favourite companies. They're so honest and upfront about everything.

"Don't worry Xbox players you'll get the first DLC sometime soon!"

It's obviously organised crime, so they will pretty easily be able to ship them over to countries such as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and other Eastern European countries. The lack of Swedish border control and coast guard is worrying at times. Trying to sell them off in Sweden would be idiotic.
