DUP Councillor Ruth Patterson charged over Facebook post
It is believed the charge is in connection to a post made on Facebook which appeared to support a fake loyalist massacre of senior Sinn Féin politicians.
She is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Thursday 22 August.
Ms Patterson left Musgrave Police Station at around 10.20pm and was ushered into a car by her family, to cheers from supporters who had gathered outside the building calling for her release.
The DUP has criticised the arrest of the former deputy mayor over what police have called "grossly offensive communications" - branding it "sensationalist".
A web page, which has since been removed, imagined a scenario in which paramilitaries would attack the Tyrone IRA Volunteers Commemoration on Sunday 11 August.
It listed Sinn Féin party president Gerry Adams and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness among the so-called 'fatalities'.
Good, the last thing this country needs is political figures trying to incite violence all over again.
Can't we just gut the entire cabinet of MLAs? I doubt she's the only one who thinks this way, from both sides, and I think this attitude will continue until we get rid of the current political parties and start up again from an unbiased standing.
Good Riddance.
I'm unionist, but this "No surrender kill all taigs" shit is abhorrent
Honestly, there will never be peace until both sides just cease to exist, they will stir shit up till the end of time itself
She should have joined the AA
