So, another slow day in the airsoft subforum and I am bored and bemused at the activity going around in this forum
SO, to spice up our day let's make a fucking chart about airsoft archetypes; and yes, this thread probably will only last a week at most but really, I could care less if we come up with something worthwhile
And what is an archetype you ask? It's:
–noun 1. the original pattern or model from which all things of the same kind are copied or on which they are based; a model or first form; prototype.
So basically kinda like a stereotype for all airsoft players, and we IFAP'ers should attempt to create a chart that fits the description of many generalized airsofters
Here's an example chart I made (note that it sucks and is tl;dr and I made it on a whim):

and you may contribute by either drawing a character (see image above) or contribute in text (see below)
Example of text contribution:
IFAPers: Faggots who have nothing better to do than to watch their subforum and continuously spend their monies on items they take pictures of to increase their epeen via winner ratings from other users
So, good luck; We'll start on the chart I made above (feel free to edit the crappy description and whatnot)
i like this thread
will contribute when i think of something
Speedsofter: (Possibly, most likely) A former speedball player that switched to airsoft. Reasons may include: guns look cooler, ammo is cheaper, got tired of having paint get all over his shit, etc. When the round starts, they take off to find the other team and tend to bring the gun up to eye level without even shouldering it to aim (paintball stance), and that's if they even have a stock on their gun. May also carry more high-cap magazines than his body has room for.
Can sometimes crossbreed with the Elitist archetype.
I know a speedsofter. He is cool.
He doesn't act like a paintball player really in terms of stance and all of that shit, either.
I wish I ran into more people like him then. :smith:
I carry eight hicaps.
But to be fair, I'm only limiting each to 30 rounds more or less. Maybe bump that up to midcap capacity if willing.
I carry 3 midcaps and one highcap.
I learned today that 700 rounds is not enough.
I MUST BUY MOAR
I somewhat fall under geardo, but I'm normally the one leading the pushes. Especially in the killhouse I'm usually the first to take point and start clearing rooms.
I'm a mix of Geardo, Average Player and Speedsofter to be honest.
I think most of the people here fit into a modified geardo.
Seriously, half of you guys never shut the fuck up about gear.
So I fielded my ALICE gear today, it worked pretty well.
Although, I think the plastic pouch clips get in the way a little.

Add noobs that only use rebrand guns from Big5 and Walmart.
I don't fit in on that chart. :saddowns:

Clearsofter: Those kids <13 years of age who think they're cool because they/their parents bought them clear plastic springers from WalMart or such ad think they are indestructible. Usually found in backyards where they prowl unregulated and sadly, unprotected from BBs to the eye. Some might find themselves at an actual field and make a pitiful attempt to be knowledgeable about tactics, point of FPS and weapons using video games as their resource. Only a handful ever make it past this point to an Average Airsofter, many are doomed to remain Clearsofters until they quit or their age catches up to them.
[editline]17th January 2011[/editline]
Chairsofter: People who own the gear and the skills but, for situational reasons, can't go play and just sit on a chair in front of their computers browsing some Airsoft forums and discussing the hobby.
I'm sadly included in this entry (minus the skills) since all of my friends have stopped playing, the weathers acting up, I'm usually busy and I just can't be bothered.
All the Ex-Military I've met are cocky egotistic bastards. I don't know what your talking about. Same with geardos. I'm a geardo and I'm not slow, or bad at airsoft.
atm
i'm 100% gear-do chairsofter

I hate when kids think they know stuff because of video games. Some even claim that AK47 is from the middle east.
The battles Ive had in airsoft is against my friends. One where me and my friend just sat in our own 30 cm deep "trench" of snow, shooting at each other without glasses.
Plus some with another friend, with shotguns only, running around in horseshit

you're dumb
He wants to get airsoft banned aparrently.
Long time ago. The guns couldn't hit a shit. We got hit 3-4 times, but yea, that wasn't the smartest thing to do.
The other times, we have been using motorcycle helmets and stuff like that (and masks)
hmm, when I think about it, we might have been using ski-goggles in the snow. Cant really remember, but I think we where allowed to have a little fight, so I suppose we used ski-goggles. It was some years ago. Cant remember the details.
Do not use ski goggles, they are worse than none.
Didn't see that one coming.
The plastic isn't that hard, I don't think it would break and splinter if that's what you're thinking about. Anyways, I don't think the guns where shooting hard enough to break the plastic glass
The Hi-speed lo-drag Geardo: Uses a lightweight vest or H-harness rig, usually has a gas SMG or carbine kit. Plays CQB mostly.
The Slightly Above Average Player: Maybe has a MOLLE vest and BDUs, caught somewhere between Geardo and Average. Probably carries a WE or KJ pistol and some extra mags for both guns. Maybe owns more than one primary.
The Rich Elitist Asshole: Owns a PTW along with several Top Techs, Maruis, KWAs, etc. Their sidearms are a pair of $600 TM based race guns. They don't have a parts bin, they have a parts closet. He's also an Elitist, frowning upon anyone who doesn't own at least $2 grand worth of guns. May get along with the Geardo or Elitist.
Oh and most ex-military guys are really awesome, usually willing to help out others.
[editline]17th January 2011[/editline]
The OpFor: Evolved from any of the other archetypes, the OpFor has grown tired of MOLLE and BDUs. He doesn't like being the "good guy". So he gets rid of his M16, packs away his CIRAS, and buys himself a Chicom and an AK. Often considers going back to his old ways, but rarely does.
So what am I?
Like gun god?

This is me and I don't regret it.
I'm a sub-geardo slightly-above-average pseudo-psuedo-pseudo-chairsofter.
Actually, I'm not really sub geardo. I am a geardo...been meaning to try a lighter and simpler loadout for a while now, though.
