I couldn't play Halo 3 for even an hour, I would just rage before it got to that point. with Reach I actually have fun and play it for longer than just 45 minutes or whatever.

Because it's the first halo game with positive gameplay changes ( excluding the armour lock, I admit that is really goddamn annoying ) so it's different, and no one likes change

The maps are shit and the amount of me getting pissed of on a regular basis has raised a fair bit but it isn't horrible, it's still fun to forge with friends and play custom games.
