Former Foreign Secretary David Miliband has criticised his brother Ed's leadership of the Labour Party.
He told the BBC Labour had lost the general election because voters "did not want what was being offered".
The leadership had allowed itself to be portrayed as "moving backwards", he said.
But Mr Miliband, who was beaten to the job of leader by his younger sibling in 2010, also said the two of them would "remain brothers for life".
He also ruled himself out of becoming the party's next leader, which would not be possible as he is not an MP.
What you reckon the odds of Labour winning the election had David had beaten Ed to be labour leader?
Shame. If I were ever going to vote Labour within that last few years it would have been with David Miliband in charge.
Then his brother Judas'd him.

Well considering people voted on image David certainly had that over him, he did have that leader look about him.
Labour was fucked either way. Running a campaign as New Labour would remind people of how much Blair/Brown fucked up, while running as a leftist convinces everyone that the country will end up running a huge deficit.
I suspect the media would have still done their campaign to make him look like a tit. And sadly people would have still bought it.
David's attitude towards politics were the real deal..
It's almost as bad as when George Bush won when it should have been Al Gore when choosing the Labour leader.
It's too bad he's committed to a cause now... probably a more noteworthy one tbh.

To be honest they bring it on themselves, the media hardly need to try:

I would say this were a joke, but I have actually spoken to people who said they weren't going to vote Labour because Ed Milliband looked funny.
I hope people like David Miliband just become Tories in the future rather than making Labour and Conservatives even more similar, I really hope New Labour doesn't make its comeback.
They need to stick around where Ed was but appeal to people emotionally, challenge attacks on their economic policy directly and use a charismatic leader.

Monkey joke? I don't think that's what they were getting at, the point was more it was a bizarre thing to do at the time - he was at the 2008 Labour party conference faced with a crowd of photographers, as any politician would be at a conference, but then awkwardly smiled and held up the banana.

i love how awkward british politicians seem
i mean yeah, we have weird photos of politicians eating hotdogs here in the states, but the pictures i see of british politicians makes parliament look like some socially-inept high school debate club
and i say that as affectionately as possible
